Vivo X90 Series: What We Know So Far

The famous semiconductors manufacturers, Media Tek and Qualcomm are planning on announcing new flagship chipsets in the next month: MediaTek Dimensity 9200 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

These processors will be responsible for powering the upcoming flagship phones launching starting from November this year till next year.

And among the companies tipped to be on the list of phone makers that will launch their flagship phones with these chipsets is Vivo: Vivo is expected to introduce the new X series phones in the next month.

The Vivo X90 lineup will include three models, Vivo X90, Vivo X90 Pro and Vivo X90 Pro+, which are speculated to launch together. Vivo failed to launch the Vivo X80 Pro Plus model this year and instead, we ended up with only two flagship Vivo X80 series phones, the Vivo X80 vanilla edition and Vivo X80 Pro. But this time around the China-based tech company is said to be planning to bring back the Pro+ version into the upcoming Vivo X90 lineup.

Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro: Rumoured Specifications

This time around, the standard Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro are expected to share most of the key specifications, that includes the processor and fast charging capabilities.

These two handsets are rumoured to be sporting the next-gen Media Tek processor, Media Tek Dimensity 9200 SoC. This chipset will be based on TMSC’s 4nm process technology and include eight cores. As it was with the previous generation chipset, Dimensity 9000, this one is also going to take on Qualcomm’s flagship processor, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Regarding the charging capabilities, the Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro are rumoured to carry support for 120W fast charging. Compared to the rumoured charging speeds of the Pro+ model, these two will be the fastest-charging Vivo X90 series phones.

The Vivo X90 Vanilla Edition will come equipped with a 1.5K display with a 120Hz display. The Pro version might also come with the same display.

Speaking of the battery capacity of these two handsets, the Vivo X90 vanilla edition is expected to sport a 4,700mAh dual-cell battery. On the other hand, the details about the battery capacity of the Vivo X90 Pro are unknown, but it won’t be a surprise if we see the same 4700mAh battery on this model as well.

Unlike other models, many details concerning the Vivo X90 Pro have not yet been revealed, the focus has only been only its two siblings Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro+.

Vivo X90 Pro+: Rumoured Specifications

The Vivo X90 Pro+ will have a 6.78-inch AMOLED E6 panel that displays 2K resolution and operate at the refresh rate of 120Hz. The panel will have 1440Hz high-frequency dimming.

Unlike the other two models, the Vivo X90 Pro+ will make use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. Its battery capacity is rumoured to be around 4,700mAh. And like the other Pro+ phones, the Vivo X90 Pro+ will support wireless charging and reverse wireless charging at 80W and 50W, respectively.

Speaking of camera specifications, the Vivo X90 Pro+ will feature a quad-camera system that includes three camera sensors from Sony company and one from OmniVision technologies. The said cameras are a 50MP Sony IMX989 (1-inch main sensor), a 50MP Sony IMX598 ultra-wide camera, a 48MP Sony IMX578 portrait camera and a 64MP OmniVision OV64A periscope camera with 3.5x optical and 10x hybrid zoom support. The cameras will be co-engineered by a German manufacturer of optical systems and optoelectronics and Nokia’s ex-partner, Zeiss.

As per reported by tech tipster Yogesh Brar, the Vivo will be releasing the Vivo X90 series this year. The launch event could be scheduled for either November or December.
