Lisa Nicole Lopes, who went by the stage name Left Eye, was an American rapper and singer. She was part of the R&B girl group TLC, along with Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas. In addition to rapping and providing backing vocals on TLC recordings, Lopes played a significant role in shaping the group’s creative direction. She received more co-writing credits than the other members, showcasing her talent and influence. In addition, she was responsible for designing some of their outfits and the stage for the ‘FanMail Tour’. She also played a role in shaping the group’s image, album titles, artworks, and music videos. Lopes was able to win four Grammy Awards during her time working with TLC.

Lopes had a short solo career where she achieved success with two top 10 singles in the US – “Not Tonight” and “U Know What’s Up”. She also had a number-one single in the UK called “Never Be the Same Again”, which was a collaboration with Melanie C from the Spice Girls. She also managed to create another girl group called Blaque, and they were able to achieve a platinum album and two top 10 hits in the US. Lopes is the only member of TLC who has released a solo album.

Lopes tragically lost her life in a car accident on April 25, 2002, in Roma, Jutiapa, Guatemala. She was in the midst of volunteering at a children’s development center in Honduras, where she was also residing at a retreat center alongside healer, Dr. Sabi. It seems that Lopes was driving too fast and ended up losing control of the SUV she had rented. The Last Days of Left Eye, a documentary, was released and shown on VH1 in May 2007.

Lisa was a proud mother who had two children, both through adoption. She decided to adopt a boy named Jamal Lopes, who was 12 years old when she adopted him, and a girl named Snow Lopes, who was 8 years old at the time of adoption. In the touching documentary The Last Days of Left Eye, they shared the heartfelt story of how she came to adopt her daughter.

There isn’t a lot of public information about her children. It appears that neither of them have public social media accounts and they both prefer to keep a low profile. However, it’s possible that they may have legally changed their names and are now going by something else.
It’s not clear if Lisa has any grandchildren or great-grandchildren to carry on her legacy since her adopted children lead private lives.

The singer’s Spotify bio says that she draws inspiration from Beyoncé and considers Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes of TLC as her mentor and God Mom. Star’s lyrical approach is centered around three important aspects: authenticity, personal experience, and cultural heritage.

By the way, Star hasn’t released any new music since 2018. However, she continues to regularly share updates on her Instagram page, showcasing her work as a hairstylist.
