Everything you need to know about Daniel Boone children

Daniel Boone, the American pioneer and explorer, had ten children with his wife, Rebecca Bryan. Here’s a list of their children:

James Boone (1757-1773): James died young during the Boone family’s first attempt to migrate to Kentucky, in an event known as the “Booneborough massacre.”

Israel Boone (1759-1782): Israel also died young, killed in the Battle of Blue Licks, one of the last battles of the American Revolutionary War.

Susannah Boone (1760-1800): She married William Hays in 1779.

Jemima Boone (1762-1834): Jemima married Flanders Callaway. She is particularly remembered for an incident in 1776 when she and two other girls were kidnapped by a Cherokee-Shawnee raiding party. Daniel Boone and a group of men pursued and rescued them two days later.

Levina Boone (1766-1802): She married Joseph Scholl.

Rebecca Boone (1768-1805): She married Philip Goe.

Daniel Morgan Boone (1769-1839): Named after the Revolutionary War general Daniel Morgan, he played an essential role in extending the Boone family’s legacy further west into Missouri.

Jesse Bryan Boone (1773-1820): He moved westward, eventually settling in Spanish-held Louisiana Territory.

William Bryan Boone (1775-1775): Unfortunately, William died in infancy.

Nathan Boone (1781-1856): Nathan had a notable career as a soldier and frontiersman. He became a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army and was the last living child of Daniel and Rebecca Boone.

Daniel Boone’s life and the lives of his children were emblematic of the American frontier experience, with its challenges, dangers, and opportunities for new beginnings.
