Snoop Bot: An AI Adventure for Text RPGs

Meta Connect, the metaverse company behind the Quest 3 announcement, has recently made waves in the AI space. In addition to their highly anticipated product release, Meta has also been actively contributing valuable models to the open-source community. The latest announcement from Meta reveals that their generative AI technology will soon be integrated into their social media apps, promising a combination of fun and functionality.

During the unveiling event, Meta AI for social media caught the attention of the audience. One of the custom AI avatars stood out in particular – it resembled none other than Snoop Dogg, adorned in Dungeons and Dragons gear. As the highly realistic Snoop Dogg-inspired Dungeon Master, this avatar delights users by spinning captivating stories in response to their chats. CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself demonstrated the interaction, initiating the conversation with the Dungeon Master’s catchphrase, “Let’s get medieval, player.”

One scenario from the demo involved Zuck’s RPG crew facing an ancient guardian armed with a rusted axe. And true to the immersive nature of the AI, the Dungeon Master prompted the player to “summon my steed.” The AI vividly described a loyal, galloping horse, complete with the intricate detail of its hooves echoing off the stone walls. Meanwhile, the ancient guardian, wary of the horse’s presence, opted to speak instead of launching an attack.

The text responses generated by Meta AI display an impressive level of creativity and will soon be integrated into popular Meta apps like Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Meta has expanded its AI offerings by incorporating virtual versions of celebrities like NFL star Tom Brady, media personality Paris Hilton, and YouTuber Mr. Beast. Each AI specializes in specific areas such as sports, recipes, crafting, and more. Furthermore, Meta plans to introduce AI Studio in the near future, allowing users to create their own AI with custom avatars and specific knowledge.

Powered by real-time information from Microsoft Bing, Meta AI can provide users with current event updates, making it both informative and entertaining. Looking ahead, Meta plans to integrate AI into virtual reality experiences. This means that AI-powered avatars will become a part of Horizon Worlds, enabling interaction with users wearing the new Quest 3, Quest 2, and Quest Pro VR headsets.

Meta AI is also set to be integrated into the newly launched Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, providing users with the convenience of AI-powered assistance directly through the glasses. Moreover, next year Meta plans to introduce visual search capabilities, which will utilize the built-in cameras of the smart glasses to analyze users’ surroundings and answer location-based questions or provide information about objects within view.

In addition to Meta AI’s expansion into social media, Meta’s generative image AI, known as Emu (expressive media universe), will also be integrated into Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp in the coming months. To generate AI images using Emu, users simply need to type “@Meta AI /image” followed by a prompt. The impressive speed of Emu’s image generation was showcased during Meta’s demonstration, with CEO Zuckerberg highlighting that most images are created within a remarkable five seconds. This speedy process sets Emu apart from other AI generators, which often take much longer to produce results.

Meta’s foray into AI technology signifies another step towards a more immersive and interactive social media experience. With their commitment to open-source contributions and their diverse range of AI offerings, Meta Connect is poised to play a major role in shaping the future of social media and the metaverse.
