5 Tips for Kedarnath Yatra 2023

Kedarnath Yatra is a voyage to the Kedarnath Temple. This pilgrimage has gained immense fandom in the last decade. The Kedarnath Yatra starts from Guptkashi and ends at the Kedarnath temple.  Guptkashi is the base camp for the Kedarnath Yatra trek. The Kedarnath Yatra trek is measured and is noted to be more than 18  km. The Kedarnath temple is settled in the land of the Rudraprayag district.  The temple is blessed with the Mandakini river and the Kedarnath mountains. The Mandakini river was etched down into history because of the incident that occurred between Lord Shiva and the demons. Lord Shiva slaughtered the demons who were troubling the gods. He threw them into the river Mandakini. It is said that the temple’s existence was not mentioned anywhere in the holy scriptures. The only Hindu scripture that talks about it is the Skanda Purana. The Kedarnath temple was established and designed by the Pandavas. They were the heroes of the epic Mahabharata, and their heroic deeds are made into many art forms. There was also a daily soap that was based on the epic Mahabharata. After the strife of Kurukshetra, the land of Hastinapur was recouped by the Pandavas. But their heroic deeds of killing their blood brothers Kauravas were a disappointment in the eyes of Lord Shiva. Mahadev wanted Pandavas to repay for the cruelty, that they portrayed in the war. Lord Shiva hid in the Guptakshi where he took the body of Nandi. Pandavas after a tiring journey found Lord Shiva, but they failed to catch him. Mahadev escaped into the earth’s surface, and when this happened the body of the bull was torn apart. The part of the bull which appeared at the Kedarnath temple was identified as the hump of the bull. The Tungnath temple was established where the arms of the bull appeared. The Rudranath temple was assembled where the face of the bull appeared. The Madhyamaheshwar temple was built where the stomach of the bull appeared. The Kalpeshwar temple was established where the hair of the bull appeared. These 5 temples are visited in a circuit called the Panch Kedar. These temples can be added to the Kedarnath Yatra Package offered by a legit travel agency. The Kedarnath Yatra should be done by following some tried tips and tricks. The top practical tips are mentioned below.

  1. Always before planning and booking for the Kedarnath Yatra Package, pilgrims have to research the opening and closing dates of the Kedarnath temple. According to a legit source this year the temple will reopen on the 25th of April. And the temple will close on the 14th of November 2023, which always comes after the auspicious eve of Diwali.
  2. After the dates are confirmed, choose the right season for the trek. Seasons like monsoons and winters can be excluded. Seasons like summers and pre-winters can be considered. Summer seasons are the best because of the temperature and the weather. This season is appropriate for all age limits.
  3. Before booking the trek tickets, opt for a complete health checkup. This is the most important step because the amount of oxygen in the Kedarnath Dham is less than what our lungs need. So complete health checkup will reveal any kinds of suppressed ailment that do not coincide with the trek.
  4. The Kedarnath trek is not easy if you are a beginner, So carrying essential types of equipment like adequate clothing, shoes, and trekking gear is necessary.
  5. Going to such a beautiful place, one should always carry a camera to capture the scenic beauty. Even though the temple doesn’t allow a camera, you can still capture the scenic beauty that can be viewed throughout the trek.
