Lucid Motors, fresh off the launch of its luxurious $249,000 Air Sapphire, is making headlines again with the introduction of the base Lucid Air Pure Rwd. Priced at a competitive starting point of $78,900, including a $1,500 destination fee, this single-motor model is set to redefine the electric vehicle (EV) market.
The Lucid Air Pure RWD is a standout in the Air lineup, featuring a rear-mounted electric motor with a formidable output of 430 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. This power enables the vehicle to accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 4.5 seconds, with a top speed reaching 124 mph. Powering this EV is an 88-kilowatt-hour Long Range Battery Pack, delivering an impressive EPA-estimated range of up to 410 miles on standard 19-inch wheels. Notably, this range places it among the highest-ranking production EVs currently available, second only to its siblings in the Lucid Air family.
Lucid's innovative engineering doesn't stop at performance and range. The utilization of their most compact battery design contributes to a lower rear floor, creating an interior that offers generous legroom and foot space for rear passengers, setting it apart from Air models equipped with the Extended Range Pack.
Equipped with the same 900-volt electrical architecture as other Lucid Air variants, the Pure RWD is primed for ultra-rapid charging, capable of adding up to 150 miles of range in under 12 minutes at DC fast charging stations. This feature caters to the convenience of drivers, ensuring minimal downtime during road trips or daily commutes.

With a starting price of $78,900, the Lucid Air Pure RWD offers an impressive list of standard features, including a stunning 34-inch curved Glass Cockpit display, Apple CarPlay, heated seats for both rows, a heated steering wheel, Micro Lens Array LED headlights, the Lucid UX digital environment capable of over-the-air software updates, and the DreamDrive suite of advanced driver assistance systems.
As Lucid expands its product offerings, the Air Pure RWD aims to provide an accessible yet feature-rich EV. However, it enters a competitive landscape, facing recent price reductions from Tesla, where the Model S Dual Motor AWD now starts at $76,380 with a comparable range of 405 miles. Additionally, the Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+, with a starting MSRP of $76,050, presents an intriguing option, although its EPA-estimated range falls short at 305 miles. The electric vehicle market continues to evolve, offering consumers an array of choices with varying features, performance, and price points.
