Michael Schumacher's unbeaten 1998 Ferrari Formula One car is expected to fetch $8 million at auction

A Ferrari F300 Formula One vehicle with chassis number 187, driven by seven-time F1 winner Michael Schumacher in the 1998 season, will be auctioned off next month in Monterey, California.

Chassis number 187 was the seventh of only nine F300 specimens manufactured for that year's Formula One World Championship season, and it won all four races.

It is the first Ferrari Formula One chassis to run at least three races and win every single one. It is powered by a fierce 3.0-liter Tipo 047, a remarkable 800-horsepower, 80-degree V-10 engine.

Following the 1998 season, the most successful Unbeaten Ferrari Formula One chassis of all time was purchased from the Scuderia Ferrari team by a vendor in 1999 and has remained in race trim ever since.

The automobile will be auctioned off by RM Sotheby's during the 18th and 20th of August in Monterey, California. It is expected to sell for between $6 million and $8 million when it goes on the market in August.
“Eminently rare and forever tied to one of racing’s all-time greatest legends, the extraordinary Michael Schumacher, 187 is without a doubt one of the most significant Ferrari F1 cars in existence, being the only undefeated chassis to run at least three races.”

Despite driving the most successful Ferrari F1 vehicle of all time, Schumacher finished second in 1998, 14 points behind McLaren-Mercedes driver Mika Hakkinen.
