AWS Launches the Second Infrastructure Region in India – Hyderabad

On November 22, 2022, AWS launched its new AWS Region in Hyderabad. The AWS Asia-Pacific Hyderabad region is the second region in India and the tenth region in Asia-Pacific. This proposed investment of more than $4.4 billion in India is expected to sustain an average of more than 48,000 full-time employees annually in the Hyderabad region by 2030

The launch of the Hyderabad region presents a great opportunity for developers, startups, business owners, corporations and the government to have more options for hosting their applications and providing end users with services from Indian data centres. Businesses now will have access to cutting-edge AWS technologies, such as data analytics, security, machine learning and artificial intelligence, to spur creativity. Local users will be able to securely store their data in India, which will also give clients even lower latency throughout the nation.

This cloud service provider has recorded a massive increase in demand from small and medium businesses in India. It has noticed rapid adoption in India over the last two years, as more enterprises turned to the Cloud over the pandemic.

“The launch of the AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region supports India’s digital transformation and is part of our long-term investment in the country since opening our first office in 2011. Customers and partners in India will now have additional regional infrastructure to deploy applications with greater resilience, availability, and even lower latency,” Prasad Kalyanaraman, vice-president of infrastructure services, said.

AWS in India

In India, AWS has a strong history of advancing digital transformation. In 2011, AWS opened its office in Delhi, marking the start of its operations there. In 2016, AWS introduced the Asia Pacific (Mumbai) Region, opening up access to cutting-edge public cloud infrastructure for businesses, government agencies, start-ups, and SMBs.

In order to support the region’s strong customer growth and to give customers additional options, flexibility, and the ability to duplicate workloads across multiple Availability Zones, AWS extended the region to include a third Availability Zone in May 2019. This has increased availability even more.

AWS now has 96 Availability Zones spread over 30 geographic areas with the launch of the new AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region.
