How to Transfer Photos from PC to iPhone?

Copying photos from an Iphone to a PC is a relatively simple process. However, transferring images from a PC to your iPhone is slightly different. This article will show you how to transfer photos from PC to iPhone using several methods.

Important. You cannot copy photos from a PC to your iPhone via a USB cable if you use Icloud Photos. You must disable iCloud Photos first. To do so, go to Settings > Photos and toggle off the iCloud Photos option.

If disabling iCloud Photos is not an option, skip the following two sections to learn how to transfer photos from PC to iPhone.

Copy Photos from PC to iPhone

This method works on all modern Windows versions, including now-unsupported Windows 7 and 8.1. The downside is that you must download iTunes, a software many hate for many reasons.

  1. If you use Windows 10 or Windows 11, download iTunes from the Microsoft Store.
  2. If you use older Windows versions or avoid the Microsoft Store, go to the official iTunes website to download an executable file. Note that you need to scroll down and click Looking for other versions Windows.
  3. Launch iTunes and accept its terms and conditions.
  4. Connect your iPhone to the PC using a Lightning to USB cable.
  5. Tap Trust on your iPhone and enter your passcode.
  6. Click the button with an iPhone logo next to the navigation buttons.
  7. Go to the Photos tab.
  8. Click Copy photos from and select Choose folder.
  9. Select the folder you want to copy and place a checkmark next to Include Videos if necessary. Note that iPhone might be incompatible with some videos on your computer.
  10. Click Sync and wait for iTunes to complete the procedure. It might take a while, depending on how many photos you sync. After all, remember that we are still dealing with USB 2.0.

Transfer Photos from PC to iPhone on Windows 11

If you use Windows 11, you can skip iTunes in favor of the more modern Apple Devices app. It is available in the Microsoft Store and works only on Windows 11. You can back up your iPhone, restore it, update software, transfer photos, and more. The Apple Devices app is an iTunes stripped to the bare minimum.

  1. Download Apple Device from the Microsoft Store. The app is in preview, so you might experience bugs or instabilities.
  2. Launch the app and connect your iPhone to the PC via a USB cable. Do not use splitters or front panels to avoid connection problems. The app might take a few moments before recognizing your iPhone.
  3. Tap Trust on your iPhone and enter your passcode.
  4. Return to the Apple Devices app and click your iPhone in the Devices list.
  5. Click Photos.
  6. Place a checkmark next to Sync photos onto device from.
  7. Click Choose folder and specify the directory with the pictures you want to sync from the PC to your iPhone.
  8. Place a checkmark next to Include videos if necessary.
  9. Click Apply and wait for the process to finish.
  10. Disconnect your iPhone and go to the Photos app. All the copied photos will appear in the From my Mac album.

iCloud Photos and Photos App

You can transfer photos from a PC to your iPhone without a slow USB cable or disabling iCloud Photos. Here is how.

Note. You need an active internet connection to transfer photos from a PC to your iPhone wirelessly.

  1. Download iCloud for Windows from the Microsoft Store. Note that this method works only on Windows 10 and 11.
  2. Launch the app and sign into your Apple ID.
  3. Place a checkmark next to Photos.
  4. Open File Explorer and click iCloud Photos.
  5. Paste the photos you want to transfer from your PC to your iPhone and wait for iCloud to sync the change. The process will take a while, depending on how many images you want to copy.

If you use Windows 11, there is another way to copy photos from your PC to an iPhone.

  1. Install iCloud from the Microsoft Store and sign into your Apple ID, as described in the previous section.
  2. Launch the Photos app on your computer and ensure the iCloud Photos section exists.
  3. Select the images you want to copy by placing checkmarks next to them.
  4. Right-click the selected images and hit Move/Copy > Copy to Folder.
  5. Select Pictures > iCloud Photos > Photos and click Copy.
  6. Wait for your computer to sync changes.

Copy photos from a PC to an iPhone through iCloud

Finally, if you have a PC that does not support iCloud for Windows or do not want to install the app, try transferring photos from a PC to your iPhone using the web-based iCloud Photos app.

  1. Go to icloud.com and sign in with your Apple ID.
  2. Click Photos.
  3. Click the upload button with a cloud and arrow icon.
  4. Select the photos you want to sync and wait for the process to finish.
