Is Pyrrhus Worth Investing?

You can unlock Pyrrhus for free during special sign-in event during the Greece Civilization launch. And after that you can get his sculptures from the tavern gold chest.

Should you invest legendary commander sculptures in him? If you are whale at early game than sure, he can be quite powerful infantry legendary commander which can be used for open field as well as rally. However in mid game and end game, there are far better legendary commanders available.

F2P players and mid spenders can probably avoid maxing Pyrrhus and just upgrade him with gold keys. You can better use his skills as bastion skills or Auxiliaries skills.

If you are wondering how he compares to other legendary infantry commanders, you can check out ROK commander Tier list.

Skill upgrade order

5-1-1-5

There are two ways you can upgrade him. First up, if you want to use him for field fight during early game then you should upgrade his active skill first and then move straight to 4th skill because it’s far more powerful than 2nd and 3rd skill.

Expertise skill isn’t really that great because of the 8s cool-down, however if you upgrade him with just gold keys then it will surely be nice bonus for your open field fights.

Second way you can use him is for bastion and auxiliaries skills. In that case wait till KvK starts and then try to get 4th skill maxed out first. 20% skill damage taken reduction is no joke.

Pros

  • Powerful infantry commander for early game
  • Good direct damage factor
  • Small shield factor
  • Skill damage taken reduction
  • Could be infantry rally option for early KvKs
  • You can get his sculptures for free from tavern

Cons

  • Completely useless in end game
  • Don’t have AOE, buffs or debuffs
  • Relic isn’t powerful enough to make him relevant in SoC

What is commander Pyrrhus good at?

If you are in end game, pyrrhus will be useless because there are far better legendary commanders which will become available. However if you are beginner and in early stage of the game then he will be really good.

Pyrrhus can do good amount of direct damage, it may not look like big number, however when you compare him other KvK 1 commander it’ s strong direct damage factor.

His 4th skill reduce skill damage taken by 20%, which can keep powerful early game skill damage commander like YSG, Minamoto, and Mehmed at bay. Small shield further increases his defensive capabilities.

Overall, great for KvK1, good for KvK 2 and 3 and useless after that.

Pyrrhus Talent Tree builds

Pyrrhus will be either used for open field, for rally during early stages of the game and canyons. Below you will find his talent tree for all scenarios.

Note: Pyrrhus won’t be primary in rally, so we are skipping rally talent tree.

Openfield

This is infantry focused build with focus on base stats. Elite soldiers will provide you base attack, defense and health boost and fleet of foot will give you march, something that infantry desperately needs.

Canynons

This talent builds is strictly designed to be used in canyons. Pyrrhus isn’t top tier canyons commander. However during early game when you don’t have many commander options, this talent will help you a lot.

Pyrrhus commander pairings

Pericles can be paired with any infantry commanders. However his synergy works better with following commanders.

Charles Martel (primary) – Best pairing for Kvk 1

Charles Martel is the best pairing option for Pyrrhus in KvK1. The synergy between them is just so good. Both commanders heavily focuses on normal attack damage and has a shield factor. On top of that, Pyrrhus’s 4th skill gives 10% more damage when shield is active.

The reason why you should use Charles Martel primary is because because Charles Martel’s active skill gives 30% damage boost which will boost Pyrrhus’s active skill.

Richard I (Secondary)

Richard I is also extremely powerful infantry commander during KvK 1 and KvK 2. If you are mid spender and using Wheel of Fortune, then there is good chance that you will have better skills on your richard than your Charles Martel. While synergy might not be as good as Charles Martel, it still is quite Tanky combination to take down on the field.

Aethelflaed (both)

Aethelflaed is powerful de-buff commander which is available for free. She reduces attack, defense, health and march speed while doing some AOE damage too. You will be helping your allies a lot by using her in the field.

You can use her primary because of the debuff on her primary skill will help Pyrrhus’s skill damage. However people target Aethelflaed a lot. So, alternatively you can also hide her behind Pyrrhus.

Alexander the Great the (Primary) – best pairing for Kvk 2

Alexander the Great is the best commander for KvK 2. He does pretty much everything, do lots of damage, has shield and tankiness, provides march speed, buff allies and de-buffs enemies. There is no other commander in KvK 2 who does so many things at the same time.

You should use Alexander as primary because his active skill makes target take 30% more damage and has shield, both will boost Pyrrhus’s damage output.

Sun Tzu (secondary )

Sun Tzu isn’t just a great infantry commander but he is the best Epic commander in the game. At early game he is almost as good as legendary commanders. So if you don’t have good legendary commanders unlocked than Sun Tzu would be a good choice for Pyrrhus.

Joan of Arc (secondary)

As a f2p player, you can also help out your ally by using support commanders like Joan of Arc. She provides valuable buffs to you as well your allies. Pyrrhus can be used primarily with infantry while Joan of Arc can stay hidden as powerful support hero as a secondary.

Scipio Africanus Prime (Primary) – Best pairing for SoC

While Pyrrhus isn’t that great in SoC, if you absolutely must use him because lack of legendary sculptures, then Scipio Prime is the best choice for you.

Scipio prime is the beast of infantry commander in SoC in same way Alexander the Great is in KvK 2. He does lots of stuff at the same time, lots of skill damage, AOE damage, de-buff enemies, provides shield, provides march speed and has faster rage generation. On top of that both commanders benefits from being outside of the alliance territory.

You should use Scipio Prime as Prime because of the 30% health reduction on his active skill.

Pyrrhus Best Formation

Pericles rely on normal attack damage. So the best formation for him would be Arch Formation, it can give him extra 5% normal damage.

Additionally, you can also use wedge Formation if you are using him with skill heavy commander.
