Grand Rath Yatra procession captivates Adelaide’s attention

BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Green Fields, Adelaide, ignited the spirit of joy and harmony as they celebrated the annual Hindu festival of Rath Yatra with a captivating chariot procession on Saturday.

The festival, symbolising goodness, happiness, and community harmony, commenced with a traditional Vedic ceremony, followed by the grand spectacle of two exquisitely decorated chariots. One chariot carried the divine idols of Harikrishna Maharaj, Jagannathji, Baldevji, and Subhadraji, while the other bore the revered murtis of Bhagwan Swaminarayan and his disciple Gunatitanand Swami.

To the enchanting melodies of devotional songs sung by devotees, the chariots were ceremoniously pulled by hand through the streets, with the procession commencing from Hurtle Square and making its way to Hindmarsh Square, at the heart of Adelaide city.

The festivities reached their crescendo with the uplifting aarti and the distribution of maha prasad, a blessed offering. As a global non-governmental Hindu socio-spiritual organization, BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, established in 1907, holds consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.
