Australia Alludu, an Indian Students’ organisation hosted a Spectacular Ganesh Mahotsav Celebration, which attracted hundreds of devotees from Melbourne and other places from all over Australia.

A majestic five-foot eco-friendly idol of Ganapathi specially made in Hyderabad was installed for the Ganesh Mahotsav. Lord Ganesh’s idol was resplendent with rich adornments, artistic décor, lavish flowers, and fruit garlands.

The celebrations began with Ganesa puja and a special harathi or divine fire in puja ritual. Throughout the day, elaborate rituals and Archana (worship through rituals) were performed, and shlokas and Ganesha mantras were chanted by priest Murthy. Ayyapa Seva Samithi Melbourne performed Ganesh Bajans.

Apart from the prayers, devotees, guests and patrons were witness too non-stop entertainment and dhol (drum) performances upping the spiritual and festive fervour.

Over 1,000-plus people took part in the celebration. The day culminated with devotees and visitors participating in the Laddu auction at the time of immersion of the idol of Lord Ganesha.

The organisers raised $23,000 from an auction won by Malik, Phani, the Siddu family and Abhilash Friends.

For organisers Pallavi and Charan, “This is the most incredible Ganapati Chaturthi celebration in Southeast Melbourne. We feel spiritually uplifted when attending these celebrations. The vibrant ambience with colour, festive spirit and coming together of the community is incredible.”

The also thanked Carina Garland, MP For Chisholm, Julian Hill MP For Bruce, Meng Heang Tak MP, State Labour Member of Parliament for Clarinda for their support and presence.

Pallavi and Charan believe events such as these are a great learning opportunity about the rich Indian culture especially for children, They recommend everyone to participate in the celebrations in the future.

The success of the Ganesh Chathurti celebrations could not have come about without the entire team and volunteers. “We also beg the forgiveness of everyone for any lapses and shortcomings and will make every effort to rectify them in the celebrations of next year,” the organisers said.
