As we head into the silly season and look towards our respective holiday breaks, I want to take the opportunity to thank you all, once again, for the incredible support you have given to our company in 2022. It also offers me the opportunity to briefly share some updates on the exciting growth and expansion that we have had at Millenium Roller Doors and offer a taster of the exciting developments ahead for us in 2023. 

2022 – Elevation and Expansion, Rolled into One

This time, last year, we set ambitious targets to grow our corporate footprint nationally and expand into the wider region and continental Africa and become a significant player in the Roller Shutter Doors market. Throughout 2022, many miles were travelled, we attended exhibitions, and we conducted virtual and in-person meetings to build a strong (and growing) distribution network across SA. Having identified and secured the right partners, the MRD stamp of quality and service is now present in most provinces to reach more businesses and homes than ever. 

Working with incredible partners, from Mahikeng to Mossel Bay, ensures that access to high-quality roller shutter doors solutions extends beyond Gauteng and the major metros. In addition, we actively encourage potential roller doors distributors across all nine provinces to contact us to discuss how we can mutually support one another to grow businesses, create jobs and support the broader economy.

More than just a COVID-19 Refresh

I won’t lie; these last two years have been difficult, both professionally and personally. Dominated by COVID-19, and compounded by Unrest in SA and recent spikes in food and material prices, we intentionally set out to reverse the air of doom and gloom and inject new life into our business proposition. Having discussed and explored options to boost our product offering and customer service to our valued clients, we are delighted to have accomplished, among others, the following milestones in 2022

• A major redesign of our Website for a better User Experience
• Launch of our Online Shop, offering premium Gate Motors and Anti-Theft Brackets with more products to be provided in 2023. 
• New Product Launches, including our high-quality Fire Resistant Doors
• We finalised SLA agreements to support our customers’ ongoing servicing and maintenance of products. 
• Growth in our Residential portfolio with several high-profile projects completed
• A surplus in Staff HeadCount with some Key Talent Acquisitions made.

Securing a Bigger Home to store our Bright Prospects

The most significant and exciting change for us as a team has undeniably been our grand move into much bigger premises within the Rand Leases Industrial Estate. The relocation was a monumental team effort, with all hands on deck to ensure the team moved every sheet, nut and bolt within our tight turnaround times.

Moving premises can be stressful for anyone, but not when you have a winning team with a collaborative approach that epitomises the MRD mindset. I am truly grateful for all of you and look forward to creating more memories as we settle into our bigger and brighter home.

Rolling into 2023 with Superior Service at the Forefront (across Africa)

Looking towards 2023, we are hugely excited about our first collaboration on the continent, having been commissioned to produce interior doors for a significant mall construction in Lagos, Nigeria. In addition, We recently established our distribution partnership in Gaborone, Botswana, to offer leading solutions beyond our borders. Where next? The sky’s the limit!

We have also redefined our commitment to ongoing customer service excellence with the launch of our SLA Department, headed by Charlene Mulder. We believe continuous service and maintenance are as important as the products you have faithfully invested in. Our SLA contracts ensure that your roller doors get the red-carpet treatment and maintain showroom condition throughout their lifetime. 

In addition, Ronald Smith has been promoted from Installer to the position of Technical Advisor. He will be responsible for visiting all of our sites to assess projects, complete all measurements, assist installers and ensure that all projects are run smoothly and completed smoothly and on time. 

As always, we value your regular feedback, which allows us to improve our offering and ensure that you can lean on our support when searching for the best solutions in the roller shutter doors market. We are exploring more products and imports and speaking to more ambitious distributors to solidify our commitment to supplying premium, custom roller doors to as many businesses and homes across the broadest possible radius.
