Skin Cancer: India The number of cancer patients is increasing rapidly. These include many types of cancer, but in the last few days it is being seen that the cancer which used to occur in fair skinned people is now taking dark and dark skinned Indian people in its grip. This is the reason why skin cancer patients are increasing here. A study conducted in Punjab a few days back suggests that skin cancer is on the rise due to exposure to the sun’s ultra violet rays and the presence of arsenic and pesticides in water. And surprisingly it is happening in women and youth.

Health experts say that recognizing skin cancer is the most difficult task. Generally, people leave this cancer which grows in the form of itching, wound, mole, scar etc. in the skin thinking it as a skin disease or skin allergy, which gradually keeps on harming people. However, this disease is now becoming serious. Especially on the mole and wart made on the body, no one suspects the disease, but their growth can also be a symptom of cancer.

Indraprastha Apollo Hospital K Dermatologist Dr DM Mahajan Explains that skin cancer is characterized as the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in the epidermis, or the top layer of the skin. It is caused due to the damage of DNA. These skin cells can form contagious tumors.

, basal cell carcinoma This cancer is usually found on the neck and head, although it can occur anywhere on the skin. It is triggered by exposure to the sun but can also occur in people who have had radiation therapy in childhood. This cancer also spreads throughout the body.

, squamous cell carcinoma- This cancer occurs when the skin burns. Whether it has been damaged by chemicals, exposed to X-rays or burnt by the sun’s rays. It can occur on the skin around the lips, mouth, anus and vagina.

, Merkel cell carcinoma Merkel cell cancer is extremely aggressive or rapidly growing. It begins especially in the hair follicles and hormone-producing cells under the skin of the neck and scalp. Another name for this cancer is neuroendocrine carcinoma.

, Melanoma There are melanocytes in different areas in the body. These cells produce melanin. It is the most aggressive form of cancer that affects the melanocytes in the skin.

, Skin cancer occurs when the body is unable to repair the DNA inside skin cells. This causes the cells to divide and get out of control.

, This cancer is also caused by excessive exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays, including sunlight and tanning beds. However, its risk increases with time.

, If a newly formed or raised mole is visible, it can be a symptom of cancer.
, Wounds start growing in the skin or take several weeks to heal.
, If there is bleeding, itching or crusting from the skin wound.
, If the diameter of a wound becomes greater than 6 mm.

, wearing fully covered clothing Wear clothing that covers as much skin as possible, such as long-sleeved shirts, long-sleeved pants, in the sun.

, Use sunscreen- Use a sunblock with an SPF of at least 30 and reapply every two hours, especially after swimming.

, Check your skin regularly Check your skin regularly and report any changes or suspicious spots to your doctor.

, Avoid tanning beds Tanning beds emit high levels of UV radiation, which can increase your risk of skin cancer.
