Increasing the medical value of tourism, now tourists will get a chance to take advantage of Ayurveda and Yoga and other medical facilities of AYUSH at the place of their stay.

Ministry of AYUSH and India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), Ministry of Tourism have recently entered into an agreement. Under which the Ministry of AYUSH will sensitize and train ITDC officials about the medical value of travel in Ayurveda and other traditional systems of medicine. Not only this, it will also identify tourist circuits where Ayurveda and other traditional systems of medicine have immense scope for promoting medical value travel and will provide all technical know-how to ITDC from time to time.

During this monitoring of this facility for tourists will be done by Joint Working Group (JWG), JWG will also identify the best practices being adopted for tourism in countries like Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, so that they can establish themselves as medical value travel. To be promoted as the best and preferred destination for tourism.

The Growing Medical Value Travel Economy

Medical value travel in India has seen a significant growth in recent years. According to the Global Wellness Institute (GWI) report ‘The Global Wellness Economy: Looking Beyond Covid’, the global wellness economy will grow at a rate of 9.9 per cent annually. The AYUSH based healthcare and wellness economy is estimated to grow to $70 billion by 2025.
