Detail Review: ‘The Most Hated Man on the Internet’ is a must watch for people of all ages

Detail Review: Internet is the easiest weapon to breach your privacy. A computer or a mobile with data facility available is capable of keeping the news of every moment of your life. Some malicious minded people consider peeping into your personal life as their favorite thing and with the help of hacking they can get your email, your social media account, even your bank details. Hacking has removed big heads of state from their chairs and has set fire to their lives by sharing personal information of many stars.

The level of hacking is so low that it enters into the lives of common people and sends its raw logs to the people, as a result of which many people commit suicide and many due to shame turn into a personality that is all Cuts off, makes a distance and ends his good character and career going through mental agony. The Most Hated Man on the Internet is a Documentary released on Netflix that depicts a horrific and obscene version of the moral degradation of our society caused by the Internet. There is also a lesson in how to deal with people who defame and embarrass you by hacking the internet. This 3-episode documentary is based on true events. This mind-opening documentary should be watched by people of all ages.

In 2010, Hunter Moore, a 24-year-old boy from the Sacramento area of California, had a good idea of the power of the Internet. He created a web site called Is Anyone Up in which intimate and nude pictures of boys and especially girls, with their full details (name, address, Facebook ID etc.) were posted. With the help of hackers, Moore hacked the emails of many boys and girls and captured their personal photos. Any user could post on this web site and Hunter always used to say that his web site is only a platform so he has no control over what gets posted on it. In this way he was outside the purview of the law. Instead of celebrities, pictures and videos of common people were uploaded on this website. Those who recognized these common people (readers, neighbors, acquaintances and others) used to make lewd comments on their pictures and videos on this website. In 2012, some obscene pictures of Kayla Laws were posted on this web site, about which someone told Kayla. When Kayla told her mother Charlotte, she decided to take drastic measures to save her daughter’s honor.

Not getting help from the police, Charlotte tried to remove her daughter’s photos from the web site through the FBI. In this case that lasted for 2 years, Charlotte contacted many such girls who were defamed by this web site. Charlotte and about 40 girls worked tirelessly to collect a lot of evidence against Hunter. Hunter was such a lousy and clumsy person that whenever he was warned not to post photo-videos or to remove photo-videos posted on the web site, he would scoff at all such notices. The FBI gradually accumulated solid evidence, in which the hacking allegations against Hunter and his hacker partner Charles Evans went on proving true. Hunter was arrested in 2014. Two days later, Hunter was released on bail. In December 2015, Evans was sentenced to 2 years and Hunter to 2.5 years. Both are out of jail now.

This documentary is a must watch for the audience. Everyone knows how the Internet is being misused, but it is also important to know how your personal data is being served to the general public through hacking. Many of the girls’ former boyfriends and husbands posted pornographic and nude photos of them on Hunter’s Web site. This is proof of the mental bankruptcy of a society. This era of hatred has gone to any extent because this website has proved how dangerous the tendency to take revenge has become. Hunter even hacked the girls’ email accounts with the help of Avance, from where he stole their pornographic pictures.

The fame of the website was such that every month about 30 million people used to visit this web site and the web site was earning about 13000 dollars per month. Some other people were also associated with Hunter, who used to continuously post or comment so that traffic would remain on the website. A person’s job was only to see that the people whose pictures or videos were being posted were all adults. In 2011, the Florida band “A Day to Remember” did not perform at a music festival because Hunter Moore came to see them perform at the festival. Not long ago, Is Anyone Up had posted obscene pictures of the band’s bass player Joshua. Hunter received many threats, notices were also received but Hunter did not pay attention to anyone. Hunter was punished by accusing him of stealing photos of girls by hacking emails, not for running the website. This shows how lax the law is and there will be room for continuous improvement in it.

A fake website was designed to show Is Anyone Up in the documentary so that there was no legal hurdle. Almost all of the characters in the documentary are real people such as Charlotte, her daughter Kayla, Charlotte’s husband Charles, Hunter’s former girlfriend Kira Hughes, FBI agent Jeff Kirkpatrick, US Attorney Wendy Wu, The Village Voice journalist Camille Dodero, and Hunter’s former lawyer. Riza Cena too. While the preparation of this documentary was going on, Hunter was also going to appear in this documentary to present his side but he left the idea at the last moment. For this reason why Hunter created this web site, why revenge porn has been given place in it and what did he do when he was released from jail, all these things have not been found in the documentary. Many web sites of revenge porn are still running, new web sites are coming daily. This story is not over. Thousands of hunter-gatherers haven’t closed their web sites because of the loss of a hunter. This documentary is enough to open eyes. Kayla had emailed her nude photos to herself, did not send it to anyone, yet she had come on the Internet. This cycle should stop.

It can be advocated that girls have the right to take any pictures of themselves or send them to their boyfriend/husband. This is also true, but there is also a parallel logic here. Whenever you go out of the house, why do you go out with locks because you can’t trust someone else’s faith and similarly when you take your nude or intimate photos and send it to someone, you expect that your Trust will not be broken but it is broken. It is also true that boys should learn not to break trust, but the patriarchal traditions that have been going on for centuries cannot be ended by simply revolting. For any system to collapse, it has to be destroyed from the roots. The thinking of men will not change in one day.
