Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes reacts to NFL’s increased ‘Thursday Night Football’ limit

The NFL voted to ratify a rule change allowing teams to be scheduled for two “Thursday Night Football” games per season, while another rule regarding the ability to flex “Thursday Night Football” games was tabled. There are quite a few critics of the increased limit on Thursday night games, ranging from NFL owners to star players.

It’s already hard enough on NFL players and their bodies having one Thursday night game per season. It’s easy to see why a player like Mahomes would be displeased with the decision.

Asked about Mahomes’ tweet and opposition from players, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell insisted that this decision was made with the interest of players in mind.

“I don’t think we’re putting Amazon over our players,” Goodell said. “The data doesn’t show higher injury rate.’. … I hear from players who also love the 10 days after a Thursday Night game. We have to try to balance all of it. ”

We’ll see if Goodell actually happens to hear Mahomes’ concerns along with concerns from other NFL players or if he simply glosses over them with the decision two increase the limit on “Thursday Night Football” games already made.Jose Quintana underwent imaging on Monday that revealed a small stress fracture on his fifth rib on his left side, the Mets announced.

The lefty will travel back to New York to undergo further imaging, the team said. There is no current timeline for his expected return.

Jose Quintana posted on Instagram that he has withdrawn from the World Baseball Classic due to what he called an issue on the left side of his back.

Quintana, who had been set to play for Team Colombia, added that he is focused on trying to be ready for the start of the regular season.

The left-hander exited Sunday’s game with what the team termed left side tightness, and was expected to get imaging done on Monday.

Manager Buck Showalter said that “it’s a little too early to know the severity” of the injury.

Quintana struck out one and didn’t allow a hit in his lone inning on Sunday. The 34-year-old struggled in his debut start on Feb. 28, allowing five runs on four hits in only 0.2 IP.
