Whether it’s an updated version or an all-new one, new SUVs have been launched in India for the past few years. Even among buyers, the hobby of buying such cars is now high. Like other months of the year, the SUV market was hot in May. The last one-and-a-half years have seen a battle between Tata Nexon and Maruti Brezza for the top spot in this segment. But last month, a popular model from the South Korean firm beat both cars to the top spot. Let’s see who stands where in terms of sales.
Hyundai Creta
After almost a year and a half, Hyundai Creta has become the best selling SUV in the country. The car surpassed the Brezza and Nexon by selling 14,449 units last month. 14,186 units were sold in April. Creta is a very popular car in the country for its advanced features and various transmission options.
Tata Nexon
Tata Nexon, known as the most popular SUV for a long time, has been ranked second in the list. Tata sold 14,423 units of the car last month. Nexon is only 26 units behind Creta in terms of sales. It sold 15,003 units in April.
Maruti Brezza
Maruti Brezza occupies the third position in the list. Last month, 13,398 new model buyers took home the car. The car sold 11,386 units in April.
Tata Punch
The name of Tata Punch has come to the fourth place in the list. Every month the micro SUV puts a smile on Tata’s face in terms of sales. May was no different. It sold 11,124 units. While the car saw 10,934 new buyers in April.
Hyundai Venue
The Hyundai Venue was ranked fifth in the best-selling SUV list in May with sales of 10,213 units. Since the launch of the facelift model in the second half of 2022, the demand for the car has been on the rise. The car sold 10,324 units in April.
Incidentally, Maruti Suzuki Fronx has created a response among the buyers after the launch. It landed in 9,863 new buyers’ garages last month. Mahindra Scorpio occupies the seventh position. Its sales volume was 9,318 units. Maruti Grand Vitara took the eighth position by selling 8,877 units. Kia Sonet and Mahindra Bolero occupy ninth and tenth place respectively. Their sales figures are 8,251 units and 8,170 units respectively.
