It might be hard to imagine that there are car “bargains” with the way the car markets have been going in 2022, but that just depends on your definition of “bargain”. This is multiplied when one considers purchasing a Performance car. Oddly enough, I don’t think there has been a time yet like there is now for the performance car segment. There are a huge amount of performance vehicles that could be purchased on the lower end of the pricing spectrum even with all the recent ups and downs in the car market.

None the less, I do understand why someone might be in the market for a performance car in 2022 and I’m here for it. For me, driving is meant to be fun, and nothing gives you more fun than a performance car. Here are some of the best performance new 2022 car bargains you can get.
2022 Mazda Miata
The Mazda Miata seems to be the “answer” to anytime someone asks for a cheap sports car. These roadsters can be had for reasonable prices that fit in almost anyone’s budget as long as you are open to new and used. The fourth generation, 2022 Mazda Miata, is offered in either 2-door convertible or 2-door retractable fastback. You can also option it out either with a 1.5L inline 4 Engine producing 129 horsepower or a 2.0L inline 4 producing 181 horsepower. Of course, either option comes in a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic. I know the horsepower numbers aren’t mind numbing, but these are quick little cars that are a lot of fun! Priced around $27,000, the Miata seems to be the answer new and used!
2022 Dodge Challenger
The Dodge Challenger just seems to have something to offer for every budget. I love the appearance of the Dodge Challenger and I think it literally screams performance, which there are several levels of. If you want to stick with just the base to keep the price down to the bargain levels, you’ll get the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine which produces 305 horsepower and 268lb feet of torque. Not bad for a brand-new car you can get around $30,000. If you want the true V8 engine, muscle car experience you’ll have to go to a Challenger R/T which will get you the 5.7L Hemi V8 engine which produces 372 horsepower and 398lb feet of torque for a cool $40,000.
2022 Volkswagen Golf GTI
The 2022 Volkswagen Golf GTI is also known as the Mk8 or eighth generation of the GTI. This model year is powered by a 2.0L turbo charged 4-cylinder motor pushing out 241 horsepower and 273lb feet of torque. It offers a lot of power, with a great suspension that make it one fun performance-oriented car to drive. The Golf GTI starts around $29,000 and that’s a great deal for a hot hatch!
2022 Ford Mustang
The 2022 Ford Mustang is an interesting pick because it offers a great deal of performance at varying budgets. The base comes with the 2.3L EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine that offers 310 horsepower and 350lb feet of torque. Although it might not be a V8 engine in there, at that price point it’s hard not to think of the legendary foxbody Mustangs that offered a lot of power in a base package (think of the foxbody Mustang LX). Offered at a starting price of $27,500, you can easily get into a fun car or go up to the legendary 5.0 coyote v8 engine for a starting at approximately $38,000.
2022 Chevrolet Camaro
Much like the Challenger and Mustang rivals, the Camaro itself just screams a performance car. Also like its American competitors, it is styled right as a performance car and makes no buts about it. The base model which starts at about $25,000 features a 2.0L inline 4-cylinder turbo engine which puts out about 275 horsepower and 295lb feet of torque. Did I mention it starts at around $25,000. Not bad at all!
