Nhava Sheva Freeport terminal to commence operations from February 2023 onwards

Nhava Sheva Freeport Terminal (NFST), a joint venture between JM Baxi and CMA Terminals has recently announced that Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) will start accepting export containers from 6th February. However, the operations will start only on 10 February 2023 in the container terminal.

The NSFT is giving a face-lift to the existing Container terminal JNPCT. It will happen in two phases and is expected to get over by 2024. The complete terminal will have 9 quay cranes, 3 RMGCs, and 27 RTGCs in operation. NSFT will totally have a quay length of 680 meters with 1.8 million TEUs as its annual container handling capacity.

This will enable NSFT to handle larger container vessels of the super Post Panamax category and cater to the increasing needs of the trade.

For the start, NFST will be operating with 340-meter berths with 5 quay cranes for managing container vessels, and later a few more will be added. The remaining area will be used to increase the rail span to 30 meters.
