Is Samsung Tab A8 Worth Buying?

The Samsung Galaxy tab A8 tablet is a low-cost tablet that is decent enough for basic everyday tasks. However, with its low price tag comes some major drawbacks that you should be aware of before making your purchase.

The biggest issue with the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 tablet is its lack of storage space if you are buying the very basic one, which is the cheapest.

The cheapest of them comes with 32GB of internal storage, which is barely enough to store a few basic apps and some light media usage.

If you plan on using this tablet for anything more than casual use, you will quickly run out of storage space and will need to invest in a microSD card.

Although, you can go for the higher GB options, which are still relatively cheap. The next step up is 64GB, which is a bit more reasonable, but if you can afford it, I would recommend going for the 128GB option.

To give you more insights into the Samsung Tab A8 tablet, let me start with the specifications.

Specifications

Here are the specs of the Samsung galaxy tab A8 tablet;

  • Screen Size: 10.5 inches
  • Screen Resolution: 1920 x 1200
  • Processor: Octa-core (2×2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55)
  • RAM: 3GB or 4GB
  • Storage: 32GB, 64GB, 128GB
  • Camera: 8MP rear camera, 5MP front camera
  • Battery Life: Up to 8 hours
  • Operating System: Android 11.

Now that we have looked at the specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 tablet, let’s move on and take a closer look at the performance.

Performance

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 tablet is a decent performer for basic tasks and some light gaming. However, it is not a powerhouse by any means and will struggle with more demanding tasks.

The processor that is powering the Samsung Tab A8 is the octa-core (2×2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55) which is paired with the Mali-G52 MP2 for graphics.

This processor is good enough for basic tasks such as browsing the web, watching videos, and some light gaming. However, it will struggle with more demanding tasks such as gaming or video editing.

The RAM options on the Samsung Tab A8 are 3GB or 4GB, which again is good enough for basic tasks but will struggle with more demanding tasks.

In terms of storage, the Samsung Tab A8 tablet comes with three different storage options; 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB. The 32GB storage option is very limited and is only good for casual use. If you plan on using this tablet for anything more than casual use, I would recommend going for either the 64GB or 128GB storage options.

Battery Life

The battery life on the Samsung Tab A8 tablet is decent enough for basic use. The battery is a 7040mAh battery, which can give you up to 8 hours of use when fully charged.

Display

The display on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 tablet is a 10.5-inch TFT LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200. The colours on display are not as vibrant as on more expensive tablets, and the viewing angles are not as good either.

Camera

The camera on the Samsung Tab A8 tablet is an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. The rear camera is not that good but in the average range for basic use; however, it will struggle in low-light conditions. The front camera can still be used for video calls but is not great for taking selfies.

Pros of the Samsung Tab A8 Tablet

  • Decent performer for basic tasks
  • Good battery life
  • Affordable
  • Sleek and portable design.

Cons of the Samsung Tab A8 Tablet

  • Limited storage space
  • Poor camera
  • Not a great performer for more demanding tasks.

Final Thought

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 tablet is a decent tablet for basic use but is not a great performer for more demanding tasks or for more resource intense use.

As I have previously mentioned, if you are looking for a tablet for casual use, the Samsung Tab A8 tablet is a good option.

However, if you are looking for a more durable, powerful and decent tablet, I would recommend you look at other options like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 or the iPad Pro.
