With severe silicon shortage, crazy crypto-miners going bonkers, and shopping scalpers, graphics card have become hard to find on most shopping platforms (at the right price). What used to cost 35-40K is selling in 6 figures now. For example a 1650 which could be found at 12-14K now Retails in excess of 28-30K, the very average 1050Ti worth 10k is now listed at 20-22k. 1660 vanilla that was worth around 17-19k now lists at a staggering 50k+ if you can find it, and just forget the 1660Ti!

But all is not lost, you could go with the following cards at your favorite retailer as they are not sought after by miners and gamers who would want to churn some serious FPS. But that does not play you cannot game on them. Dial down the resolution, turn down the Anti aliasing and excessive effects, use a smaller monitor and bam! You have a graphics card that can game your way out of the china virus boredom! Also, I would advice you to use a faster processor and RAM with low latency and high refresh speed to help you with some frame rates.

Nvidia GeForce GT 1030

Retails around the 8K bracket, you can find them aplenty and the 10 series card assures you of latest Shader support, with good directX and openGL performance. The base clock with is fast enough for 1080p gaming and the GT has 384 shader processors with 2gb RAM. most manufacturers field an overclock version so go with that for a little more juice.

Nvidia GeForce GT 730

I would say, don’t look at the 710 at all, go with the GT 730 if you want to not pick the 1030 for availability reasons. The GT 730 is a capable card and if you are a strategy gamer, its more than enough.The card retails for the same 8k price range so if you cannot find a half decent 1030 go with the 730. Do keep in mind that the card is a tad older and so is shader version support.

Used cards: The 750Ti, 760Ti, GTX 950, GTX 960, etc.

You could pick a used card from the above as they are really good gamers. Do check before buying to make sure they are functional. Picking a high end card like a GTX 970 and GTX 980 and their Ti versions at a good price is highly unlikely but go ahead if you can hit a good price with a working card. Chances are that higher end cards would have been working hard at crypto mining and that is the reason I would not be too eager.

As an endnote, I tried looking for AMD cards but could not spot many in stock. However if you do, they can be a great option.
