7 Microsoft 365 Apps You’re Not Currently Using (Probably)

Just like humans only use 10% of their brain* most business only use 68.9%** of their Microsoft subscription.

There is a lot more to Microsoft 365 than Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Use of Teams has increased massively, from just 2m daily users in 2017 to 270m daily users in 2022. Adoption of Teams was of course expediated by the pandemic. And this has meant apps which integrate with Teams, such as Planner and To Do have seen increased useage too.

But there are still many apps buried in 365 that you could be using.

The Benefits of Getting to Know Your 365 subscription

Microsoft raised prices of 365 in 2022, they are going up again in 2023. So you’re paying more and this makes it a no-brainer to make sure you’re getting everything you can from the subscription. Think of it as subscribing to Netflix but only watching the series and ignoring the movies and documentaries. You’re just not getting the best bang for your buck.

As well as getting a better return on investment you might also be able to save money. There may well be something hidden in Microsoft 365 that can replace another piece of software you are paying for.

So, to help you on your way here’s some Microsoft 365 Apps You’re Not Currently Using.

365’s Hidden Gems

Forms: Microsoft Forms is a tool for creating surveys, quizzes, and polls. It can be used to collect data, gather feedback, and engage employees.

Stream: Microsoft Stream is a video-sharing platform that allows you to create and share videos within your organization. It is a useful tool for sharing training materials, company updates, and more.

Planner: Microsoft Planner is a task management tool that allows you to create, assign, and track tasks within your team. It Includes Features such as calendars, due dates, and the ability to attach files to tasks.

Sway: Microsoft Sway is a presentation tool that allows you to create interactive, visually appealing presentations. It includes features such as templates, multimedia support, and the ability to collaborate with others.

Whiteboard: Microsoft Whiteboard is a digital whiteboard that allows you to brainstorm, collaborate, and share ideas with others in real-time. It includes features such as inking, shapes, and the ability to import images and documents.

Translator: Microsoft Translator is a machine translation service that allows you to translate text and speech into over 60 languages. It includes features such as translation history, offline translation, and the ability to translate documents and websites.

Bookings: Microsoft Bookings is a scheduling and appointment booking tool that allows you to schedule appointments with customers, clients, or patients. It includes features such as the ability to create custom booking forms, send automated appointment reminders, and track customer information.

It’s going to take a bit of time and patience to get to grips with the Microsoft 365 apps you’re not currently using. The great news is they will have a familiar ‘feel’ to them as part of the Microsoft eco-system. Another great thing is that there are numerous videos, blogs and tutorials that can get you from beginner to pro in no time at all. Start with Microsoft themselves. So set a bit of time aside, head over to You Tube and start making the most of your 365 package.

* The 10% thing is a complete myth and has been debunked in numerous studies, yet still gets trotted out regularly. Whilst we are not in the habit of perpetuating untruths I’d already written the intro before Googling it, and it worked so I used ALL of my brain to decide not to change it.
