Amazon’s Echo Show 15 Will Keep You on Your Toes

The Amazon Echo Show 15, powered by Alexa, is the biggest smart display released by the tech giant. It is also one of the most expensive.

The 15.6” screen is the largest Echo that one can mount on the wall. The company is betting on the fact that people will eventually start using the Echo Show 15 like a family bulletin board. Since it can be wall mounted, it can be displayed in a prominent place for family members to leave notes, prepare to-do lists, leave reminders, and more.

Echo Show 15 Features

Display

It can be wall mounted or kept on a stand, depending on your convenience. If you wish to keep it stationary, you need to purchase the Sanus Tilt Stand which retails for about $29.

The device is extremely popular as a family organizer and most people prefer to place it in the kitchen.

The Amazon Echo’s 15.6” display with 1920×1080 full HD display helps it double up a convenient smart TV of sorts. Its dimensions are 402 x 252 x 35mm and it weighs approximately 2.21 kg.

The Alexa-powered Echo Spot 15 will smartly organize your home.

Widgets

Along with the rotating home content, the Echo Show 15 also has Alexa widgets that can help you customize the display as per your needs.

The widgets also help one list all their smart-devices under one screen for easy access and monitoring. During its launch, the Echo has 14 widgets made by Amazon.

The Smart home widget is extremely useful in monitoring smart home devices and live feeds of security cameras installed around or within your house. One drawback is that these widgets cannot be resized. Hence, if you need to add more of them to your screen, they tend to get pushed off to the side.

It is rumored that the widgets will soon make their way into other smart devices by Amazon.

Photo Frame

One can use the photo frame option to display their albums from Amazon Photos or Facebook.

Entertainment

To cater to one’s entertainment needs, the Amazon Echo Show 15 can stream music, podcasts, and videos. You can log in through your Prime Video, Netflix, and Hulu account for seamless streaming. The Echo Show 15 can be paired with other echo devices for superior sound quality.

During the launch, Amazon revealed that Sling TV will be available across all Echo devices.

Personalization

Family members can personalize content and use visual and voice ID to set up individual profiles with their information. The visual ID requires it to take a few photos while the voice ID will require one to speak a few phrases.

The Amazon Echo Show 15 can be kept at a desk or mounted on a wall.

Camera

The Echo Show 15 comes with a 5MP camera which falls short in comparison to its peers, especially the Echo Show 10 which had a digital tracking feature.

The camera is mainly useful for the Visual ID which kicks in once you are in its field of view.

Navigation

At the top edge are the volume, camera, and mic controls. There is a sliding bar to cover the camera lens when not in use, protecting your privacy and give you better controls.

Speakers

The Echo Show 15’s dual speakers are quite ordinary and leaves you wishing for better quality. It works best when paired with other smart speakers.

Price

The Amazon Echo Show 15 is priced at $249.99 and is nearly five inches bigger than the Echo Show 10. A drilling guide and a mounting plate is included with the Echo 15.

As Alexa is built-in to the Echo Show 15, you can use the feature to get recipes, weather and news updates, and much more.

If you are looking for an Alexa-powered smart system that can unite your family and cater to everyone’s individual needs, the Amazon Echo Show 15 is the right choice for you.
