Google Pixel 5 Review: Functionalities and Specifications

The Pixel 5 phone is a good phone available for $699. It has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and is one of the simpler variants of Pixel by Google. Google packed a 90Hz OLED display, dual cameras, and wireless charging feature, among many on the new phone and is, in fact, the cheapest flagship Pixel one may have come across.  The Pixel 5 release date is October 15, 2020.

Google Pixel 5.0 Hardware

The Pixel 5 is equipped with a 6-inch OLED screen, round corners, and a reasonably huge punch hole selfie camera. The design of the Pixel 5 is average, with small bezels around the flat screen.  The Pixel 5 has stereo speakers powered by panel audio tech features. The screen of the phone vibrates to create audio and is efficient for phone calls. The body of the phone is made of aluminum covered with a matte resin. The aluminum body is robust, yet it saves a lot of weight and thinness of the phone. Pixel 5 has IP68 water and dust resistance. The OLED screen has 1080p resolutions and a refresh rate of 90Hz. One of the fascinating changes Google made to Pixel 5 is switching back to the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and dropping the radar sensor and face unlock features.

Pixel 5 is powered by a Snapdragon 765G processor and 8GB of RAM for multitasking.  In terms of battery life, the phone can easily last a full day on moderate to heavy use.

Pixel 5 passes the efficient smartphone test in all aspects.

Camera

The Pixel 5’s camera is efficient, just like the other Pixel counterparts. The camera gives excellent photos that are sharp, full of contrast, well-balanced light and shadow work. It has a 12-megapixel lens that Google has been using since Pixel 3. One of the camera changes is the addition of an ultra-wide lens in place of a telephoto lens. The lens also has a well-balanced Night Sight mode that turns on automatically in dark situations. In low light, the camera balances the combination of Night Sight and portrait mode. There is also a new 107-degree ultrawide camera of 16 megapixels and a video output of 1080p. Pixel 5 has one of the best smartphone cameras for photos with perfect low-light performance and excellent overall quality.

Google Pixel 5 Software

Pixel 5 has Android 11, with users getting free updated for three years. Google has also added certain software features like users can set the tech tool Google Assistant to hold for them and alert them when a real human comes online. Also, the Voice Recorder by Google can transcribe text live immediately and efficiently. There is, however, a new feature that lets the recorder export that audio in a little video clip for social media platforms.

The Pixel 5 may not be an utterly fascinating phone for users, but Google did upgrade many of its functionalities like its build quality, battery life, and camera.
