Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio (2022)

A beautiful and heartbreaking retelling of the classic story, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio is not only one of the best new streaming movies this week but also one of the best films of the year. With gorgeous, sometimes grotesque stop-motion animation, del Toro resets the narrative in fascist, World War II Italy, exploring grief and mortality through the story of a wooden boy and his father.

The sequel to Enchanted, dropping on Disney Plus 15 years after the original film, sees Giselle, Robert, and Morgan relocating to a new community. But the move knocks the real world and Andalasia off-balance. Disenchanted stars Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, Maya Rudolph, Idina Menzel, and James Marsden.
