Google Pixel Watch 2 vs Pixel Watch: What we know so far!

Design and Display

The original Pixel Watch was lauded for its aesthetic appeal, and the Pixel Watch 2 seems to be following in its footsteps.

The new watch is expected to bear a striking resemblance to its predecessor, with a 1.2-inch round OLED display boasting a resolution of 384 x 384.

However, the Pixel Watch 2 will feature a new panel from Samsung Display.

While many were hoping for a reduction in the bezel size, it appears that the Pixel Watch 2 will retain the same thickness in its bezels.

The watch will likely be available in a single 41mm dial size, which might be a disappointment for those with larger wrists.

Watch Faces and Customization

The Pixel Watch 2 is set to introduce a range of new watch faces. Four of these are under the “accessible” category, which includes:

  • Circular
  • Linear
  • Stacked Time
  • Just Time

Another intriguing watch face is the “Arc”, which offers a high degree of customization.

Users can choose from various indices, decide on the number of complications, and even toggle the second hand.

There are six variants in total, with options like Max, Minimal, and Numerals.

Other watch faces include the “Bold Digital”, which uses a bold, overlapping font, and the “Analog Bold”, a customizable analog watch face with a filled-in hour hand.

Google is also introducing dynamic theming with the Pixel Watch 2. This feature will extract colors from the active watch face and apply them throughout the watch’s UI.

Software Upgrades

The Pixel Watch 2 isn’t just about looks; it’s got brains too. One of the standout features is the new coaching tool, designed to help fitness enthusiasts reach their goals.

And for those days when everything feels overwhelming? The cEDA sensor is here to track your stress levels and give you real-time insights.

Talk and Tactile Feedback

Both the Pixel Watch 2 and its predecessor allow users to make voice calls. But it’s not just about hearing; it’s also about feeling.

The haptic feedback, a favorite feature from the original model, makes a return, ensuring users feel every notification.

Battery Life

The original Pixel Watch’s battery life left much to be desired. With the Pixel Watch 2, Google seems to be addressing this issue.

The new watch will feature a 306mAh battery, a slight improvement over the original’s 294mAh. Coupled with the new chip’s efficiency, users can hope for a longer battery life.

Price

In terms of pricing, the original Pixel Watch was priced at $349.99 for the base model, with an additional $50 for the LTE version.

The Pixel Watch 2 is expected to come with a similar price tag as its predecessor. With the Wi-Fi model at $350 and the cellular variant at $400, the big question is: Does the new model offer enough to justify the price?

Is the Pixel Watch 2 Worth the Wait?

From the details available, the Pixel Watch 2 promises to be a worthy successor to the original. With enhanced features, improved specifications, and the same beloved design, it’s shaping up to be a must-have for tech enthusiasts.

However, competition is fierce. With alternatives like the Galaxy Watch 6, TicWatch Pro 5, and the Garmin Venu 3 Plus, the Pixel Watch 2 will need to bring its A-game to stand out.

Only time will tell if the Pixel Watch 2 can live up to the hype. As the release date approaches, all eyes will be on Google to see if they can deliver another game-changing device.
