Who is Juno?

Juno is an AI you encounter during the quest Juno’s Gambit. This quest takes place in the Tau Ceti system in Starfield’s west region, in Tau Ceti III’s orbit. There’s a Level 12 Ecliptic enemy ship blasting at you as soon as you arrive.

Deal with the Ecliptic enemy ship, and you’ll overhear some people talking on the nearby “Mysterious Ship”. Dock and board to begin the quest in earnest.

Should you let Juno live?

‘Kill’ Juno

The Ryujin Operatives on board the mysterious ship want to attach a control board to the AI Juno. This board will change Juno’s programming, essentially ‘killing’ her. Understandably, that’s not something the AI is happy about. Talk to the AI in the middle of the ship to learn more about her.

After that, you will have two choices. You can either go ahead with the Ryujin Operatives’ plan to Attach the Control Board or you can side with Juno and Deal with the Ryujin Operatives.

If you want to side with the Operatives, be firm in your belief that Juno is just a malfunctioning AI. The AI will try to persuade you out of it, but eventually, the Operatives will prompt you to get the whole thing over with. At this point, you’ll need to speak to Juno again and attach the control board.

Once the control board is successfully attached, Juno will ‘change’ and shut down. The Operatives will thank you for your help, and you’ll get to leave. But as you’re flying away, you’ll hear Juno boot back up. The angry AI will shut down the Life Support System, killing both operatives before Gravjumping away. This completes the quest, granting you 3,500 Credits for your efforts.

Let her Live

If you choose to side with Juno and acknowledge her feelings, she’ll ask you to remove the male threats from the ship. You can do this in two ways. If you’re part of the Ryujin Industries Faction, you can talk to the two operatives and convince them to leave.

If you’re not part of the Ryujin Industries faction, your only choice here is to kill the two operatives. Once they’re dead, speak to Juno again. She will declare you her friend. She will then ask you for a purpose in life. You can answer this as you see fit.

Then return to your ship and undock. Juno will boot back up again and go off into space on a journey of self-discovery.

Conclusion

Two of the three available paths result in both operatives dying. The only difference is who kills them. We hope this article answers the question, Should you let Juno live? And as always, happy gaming!
