Since the release of season 4 of Modern Warfare 2, players have been experiencing this strange Uav Bug. As of a few days ago, it was thought to be fixed properly, but it wasn’t. Here in this guide, we are going to go into the details of this Modern Warfare 2 (MW2) UAV Bug.

The functionality of UAV!

Before we hop into the details of this topic, we need to discuss the functionality of UAVs. Just as intended, UAVs are supposed to show the location of enemies on the map.

Not all the time, but rather when they are firing guns or moving around. Suppressed guns don’t work with UAVs. So, basically, when someone makes a loud noise, you will know about their location.

There are then two types of UAVs;

  • Simple UAV that only pins the location at the time they made a noise. After that, you might go anywhere else and you wouldn’t know about it.
  • Advanced UAV that shows the enemy’s location in Real-Time, meaning you are going to learn about the location of sound-making enemies for a while.

What is this UAV Bug in MW2?

As season 4 of MW2 started, the UAV started showing enemy players in real time. No, we aren’t talking about the advanced one, but rather the simplest of them all.

Yes, only the advanced ones do that, but the simple ones also started showing the players in real time.

This UAV Bug made them exceptionally powerful and quite a hack for players who knew about this issue. With that being said, players had to literally put the Ghost Perk in their arsenal.

After some in-depth testing from the experts, it was shown that the UAV Bug wasn’t only related to the real-time following. It had 3 different behaviors all along. We will be going into details of these behaviors with testing below.

Is Modern Warfare 2 (MW2) UAV Bug Fixed?

Now, the trouble begins at this spot. After the release of the latest patch, some players reported that it was fixed for them.

Then again, there are other players who said this wasn’t fixed. A YouTuber named TheXclusiveAce talks about this stuff in detail.

The UAV is still broken and showing enemies in real time. According to the tests “Ace” did, the Bug is inconsistent. Yes, it can occur and it can’t, depending on the situation it likes.

Ace’s First Test

On digging deeper, Ace found that the UAV Bug sometimes triggers the UAV to work on the opposite. It will show enemies when it is not sweeping and won’t when it is sweeping.

Typically, when the sweep occurs, it shows the enemies and in between the sweeps, it shouldn’t.

Ace’s Second Test

On the second test Ace did, the UAV was once again showing a completely different behavior. It was following the enemy location for a few seconds now instead of simply sweeping and pinpointing it.

What’s the Reason behind MW2 UAV Bug?

So, after the analysis, it was quite known that it wasn’t occurring the first time in the game. It happened in the second match with the Inverse Effect and in the third with the UAV working for a longer period.

It isn’t still the case here because when you dig deeper, there is an inconsistency here. So, all of this basically means the MW2 UAV is simply broken. It is glitched to the point that you can’t expect anything.

It could be the player in your team with the broken one if yours is working as intended or it could be yours that is broken and the other players have a normal version.

And, No, changing the gear, the perks, or anything doesn’t change anything.
