Alan Wake 2 is Very Well Optimized on PS5/Xbox Series, Remedy Says; Visuals & Performance Improved Since May

Alan Wake 2 is very well optimized across PS5 and Xbox Series, Remedy’s Communications Director has said.

Some hours ago, Remedy’s Thomas Puha took to Twitter to talk about how the highly-anticipated Alan Wake sequel runs on consoles. According to the Communications Director, the team has done an amazing job ensuring the game’s performance and visuals are as good as they can be on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. As mentioned by Puha, the console version of Alan Wake 2 is “great”. The same can be said about the game’s PC version, which is said to be as “good as it can be”.

“Especially as a console player, I’m really happy how good Alan Wake 2 is on console platforms”, Puha wrote on Twitter. “We had a lot of focus on them throughout development ensuring the game would run well and look as incredible as it does. Focused on all platforms to be fair, as well as we could.”

In a follow-up tweet, Puha added, “Yes. I have the unofficial role of “player experience” which is a very very loose term, but I’m all about the console quality as we have more than enough folks to drive the PC quality to as good as it can be.”

When asked about gameplay footage on PlayStation 5, the Communications Director referred to footage from May’s State of Play event when gameplay was shown. Puha pointed out that, since then, performance and visuals have been further improved.

“That’s from May”, linking to the gameplay reveal trailer from back in May of this year. “so there’s more detail in the visuals, better performance, actual final color grading and bunch of other stuff we were missing back then since the game was in development”.

We’ve included this PS5 gameplay reveal trailer, which was 100% running on PlayStation 5, below for those who haven’t seen it yet:

Aside from mentioning the PS5 version, Puha also said that the game looks and runs great on Xbox Series X.

Aside from mentioning “consoles”, Puha didn’t specifically mention the Xbox Series S version of the game, and it will be interesting to see how Alan Wake 2 runs and performance on Microsoft’s entry-level console. Earlier this year, Puha talked about the technical limitations of the console, and how these limitations have to be taken into account from the beginning of development.

Alan Wake 2 releases this week on October 27 for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. PC players might want to check out the game’s official system requirements, as they are quite demanding.
