Twitch is currently hosting the TwitchCon event in Las Vegas, US. At this event, Amazon-owned video streaming platform has made some major announcements. Amongst them, Twitch has also confirmed that it is getting cross-streaming support on any platform. The company took to social media platforms to announce the feature. Simulcast as Twitch calls it, will allow users to simultaneously stream their live videos on other sites.
In August, Twitch relaxed its rules on cross-streaming to allow channels to make their live content appear on rival social media apps like Instagram and TikTok. The company has cited that users will be able to livestream their Twitch videos on “any service”. However, the channels that have signed exclusivity contracts with Twitch won’t be able to co-stream on other platforms.

Simulcasting guidelines
Twitch has outlined a few guidelines for using Simulcasting. The company says: “We believe in giving you the freedom to simultaneously stream on other services, but we also want to ensure that the Twitch user experience is not compromised.”
Here are the guidelines:
- You ensure that the quality of Twitch users’ experience of your Simulcast is, at a minimum, no less than the experience on other platforms or services, including by your engagement with the Twitch community, for example, via chat.
- You should not provide links, or otherwise direct your community, to leave Twitch for your simulcast on other services because we value the community on Twitch and the integral role community engagement plays for all Twitch users.
- You do not use third-party services that combine activity from other platforms or services on your Twitch stream during your Simulcast, such as merging chat or other features, to ensure the Twitch community is included in the entirety of the experience of your livestream.
Users who want to use the Simulcasting feature in Twitch have to adhere to these guidelines. If users fail to comply with these guidelines Twitch will send you a warning before taking any enforcement action.
