Final Fantasy XIV is making its long-awaited debut on Xbox consoles in Spring 2024, much to the excitement of fans. This announcement was made by producer and director Naoki Yoshida during the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival, where he was joined on stage by Microsoft’s Phil Spencer. The game will be specifically released for Xbox Series X|S, offering 4K support on the Series X. Regrettably, there will be no Xbox One version available. Players can anticipate faster loading times and a digital-only format for the Xbox Series X|S edition.
While there was no news regarding an addition to Xbox Game Pass, fans can still look forward to an open beta during patch 6.5x, scheduled for early next year.
Furthermore, Square Enix delighted attendees by revealing details about Final Fantasy XIV’s upcoming expansion, Dawntrail. Set to launch in Summer 2024, this expansion promises to bring new adventures and experiences to players.
In an unexpected collaboration, Final Fantasy and Fall Guys are joining forces. Fall Guys will introduce Warrior of Light costumes on August 22, while Final Fantasy XIV will feature a brand new minigame.
Last December, Final Fantasy XIV released its highly acclaimed expansion, Endwalker. GameSpot’s Endwalker review praised it as a poignant and satisfying conclusion to a long and captivating journey.
