Unexpected Twist: “Strange New Worlds” Season 2 Dazzles with a Retro Musical Episode Poster

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is embarking on a bold new venture in its upcoming Season 2. The penultimate Episode, titled “Subspace Rhapsody,” will introduce the franchise’s first-ever musical episode. Fans can expect the crew of the Enterprise to showcase their vocal talents in this exciting installment. Paramount+ has also released a stunning retro-style poster to accompany the episode’s trailer.

In fact, many members of the Strange New Worlds cast have demonstrated their singing abilities before. Celia Rose Gooding, who portrays Uhura, showcased her talent in Season 1. Additionally, Christina Chong, who plays La’an, has already released two singles this summer. Anson Mount, the captain himself, previously likened Season 2 to Spinal Tap, adding a new layer of meaning now that the musical episode is confirmed. Mount and Rebecca Romijn, who portrays Number One, expressed their excitement for this particular episode in an interview with Collider. Romijn herself had a musical moment in the “Q&A” Short Trek, singing alongside Ethan Peck’s Spock.

“Subspace Rhapsody” is not the only boundary-pushing episode in Strange New Worlds. The following episode, titled “Those Old Scientists,” will bring the animated characters from Lower Decks to live-action for the first time. Attendees of the Star Trek Universe panel at SDCC were treated to a preview of this episode, which will be available on Paramount+ in the near future.
