Ever since Capcom’s announcement of Exoprimal in 2022, gamers have eagerly anticipated the release of this dinosaur action game with a strong emphasis on online multiplayer. One of the most exciting features revealed later was the game’s support for Crossplay. However, it should be noted that Exoprimal only supports cross-platform matchmaking and does not allow for cross-platform Party Creation. This means that players will be unable to invite friends playing on different platforms to join their parties.
Recently, Capcom provided further details and clarification regarding the restrictions accompanying crossplay in a Twitter thread.
On day 1, Exoprimal will support cross-platform matchmaking, but party creation will be specific to each platform ecosystem, as seen below in no particular order:
Group 1: Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows
Group 2: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5
Group 3: Steam
According to the thread, party creation crossplay will be limited to three platform ecosystems:
- Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows
- PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5
- Steam
These limitations were also present during Exoprimal’s beta phase and will continue to be in effect after the game’s full release. However, Capcom hints at the possibility of introducing cross-platform parties at a later date, although it acknowledges that this feature may take some time to implement. Additionally, Capcom has announced that it will soon share a roadmap for its first major post-launch update.
Exoprimal is scheduled for release on July 14 and was showcased in a recent trailer, highlighting new adversaries, exosuits, and game mode. IGN previously previewed the game and described it as a solid foundation for a PvPvE shooter, although it criticized the PvP gameplay as being mediocre and generic.
