To what extent is endgame content significant to you? – Destructoid

Is the Endgame in Diablo 4 worth the wait? As a reviewer, I expected some controversy when I took on the task of reviewing Diablo 4. While I had expressed my concerns about the game’s online requirement and live service nature, I never anticipated a post-launch debate about the state of the endgame content. It’s only been a week since the game’s release, and yet, there are already heated opinions about it.

In my observation, the opinions are divided into two camps. The first one includes players who rush through the game to Reach the endgame. They argue that it’s too repetitive, that it only funnels players into a limited number of activities without any variety. On the other hand, some say that those who rush to reach the endgame have missed out on the journey. Essentially, if you didn’t enjoy the main course, don’t complain if you’re hungry after dessert.

As for me, I find it fascinating how different perspectives can change the way we look at a game. As a player who values quality over quantity, I have enjoyed playing Diablo 4 for over 50 hours and find it worthwhile. However, I understand why some players are upset about the endgame content.

The notion that “the real game starts at endgame” has created negative conditioning, making players rush through the main content to reach endgame. In reality, the game’s primary content should be enjoyable in itself. If it’s not, then that’s not the players’ problem, but a game design issue.

That being said, I can understand why some players want to reach endgame as soon as possible. In a good endgame, players can unlock everything, finish the story, and focus on becoming stronger. Early gameplay in Diablo 4 differs from the endgame, allowing for dramatic progression that can feel incredibly satisfying.

Ultimately, everyone should find their own way to play the game. Some players want to experience everything a game has to offer, while others are content with just reaching the endgame. There are no right or wrong answers; it all depends on how each player approaches the game.

In conclusion, while debates about endgame content aren’t new, we should hold game developers to higher standards. With the advancements in game design, we should strive to create games that offer engaging and enjoyable content from start to finish.
