10 Characters Star Wars Fans Would Love To See In ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’

Star Wars fans are at the edge of their seats to see the new Obi-Wan Kenobi television series, and rightly so. There are some big names set to reprise their roles with the likes of Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen returning to play Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader respectively, but there’s a good chance some others make an appearance too.

Fans are understandably doing a lot of speculating about who might be in the new show, which will be released in May. However, there are some character cameos that would make a bit more sense than others, a few that would need to be done in just the right way, and some that have fans divided.

Qui-Gon Jinn

It would certainly make sense to have Qui-Gon Jinn make a special cameo in this new show as Obi-Wan, who is hiding from the Empire, probably wants to reach out through the force to his old master for guidance after everything that’s happened with Anakin and the Jedi.

Qui-Gon was one of the first Jedi who looked into living on through the force in the afterlife and could potentially communicate as a force ghost, or just through his voice, and it also helps that Liam Neeson has previously said he would be open to playing the character again.

Yoda

This would probably be a similar cameo to Qui-Gon with Yoda trying to communicate with Obi-Wan through the force. We do know Yoda and Obi-Wan were together during the events of Order 66 but then went their separate ways and into hiding, but the two may want to speak again.

Yoda has also made similar appearances through the force in other Star Wars media when certain characters are in need of help and guidance, and this would be a fairly appropriate time for the wise master to try to support Obi-Wan.

Cal Kestis

A name casual Star Wars fans may not be familiar with, but Cal Kestis (voiced and motion-captured by Cameron Monaghan) quickly became one of the most popular Jedi in the canon thanks to the Jedi: Fallen Order video game.

Fans have speculated Cal, who survived Order 66 as a young padawan, could make an appearance in the new show due to his whereabouts being unknown after the end of the game. It may not be likely he runs into Obi-Wan while also evading the Empire, but it’s fun to see characters from outside the feature films make it into live-action, and it would be easy for Monaghan to reprise the role. It’s also a bonus that Cal has experience fighting Inquisitors.

Han Solo and Chewbacca

Fans seem to be excited about this famous pair of much-loved characters potentially making an appearance, but the consensus is that it would have to be in an extremely minor and background way, and not as blatant fan service.

Again, this cameo makes sense considering it’s highly likely at the time of the show the two might be floating around Tatooine and working for Jabba the Hutt after the events of Solo. If the show-runners could make this small background cameo work in a way that’s tasteful and makes sense, fans would be extremely happy.

Emperor Palpatine

The Emperor obviously plays a major part in what’s happening in the Star Wars universe at the time of the show, and again, it would make sense if he made an appearance. He may not be given a huge amount of screen time like in the movies, but there’s a good chance viewers could get some scenes of the Emperor and Vader together.

It would also be fairly easy to have Ian McDiarmid return to play the part (likely hidden under hooded robes), or if it’s just his voice, perhaps Sam Witwer, who has voiced the character multiple times in Star Wars animated shows and video games.

Commander Cody (and other Clone troopers)

Some of Obi-Wan’s old clone trooper buddies returning to the new show may be a bit of a stretch, but it doesn’t mean fans wouldn’t love to see it happen.

Fans of Star Wars Rebels will know some clones were able to remove their control chips before Order 66 and actually helped some Jedi survive. The whereabouts of Cody, one of Obi-Wan’s closest commanders during the Clone Wars, are unknown after Order 66, so there is a very small chance he could somehow return to help out his old friend.

Darth Maul

Hearing the iconic Duel of the Fates in the trailer had fans speculating about a return from one of the most popular Star Wars villains of all time, but reports seem to have confirmed he won’t be appearing. Fans were fairly divided on whether they wanted Darth Maul to be in the show, with some begging for it, and others glad he was cut.

Darth Maul obviously plays a large part in Obi-Wan’s past, we know he would be alive around this time, so he could pop up, and it would be pretty epic to see him return in some way. However, his story was also beautifully wrapped up in Star Wars Rebels, and some fans think an appearance in this show would potentially take away from that.

Jabba the Hutt

An appearance from another classic villain, Jabba the Hutt, would make nearly the most sense besides the Emperor showing up in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series seeing as at least some of it is based on Tatooine. Jabba was well and truly established on Tatooine at this point, so it wouldn’t be weird if he was involved in some capacity.

The powerful crime boss probably also has eyes and ears out for if the Empire and the Inquisitors end up visiting his planet and may even look to make a profit off turning in rogue Jedi, such as Obi-Wan.

Greedo

The mysterious bounty hunter who never got a lot of screen time in A New Hope still ended up becoming a fan favorite, as most of the bounty hunters do. Greedo ended up getting some more attention outside the feature films in things like comic books and video games, but it would be fun to see a small cameo in Obi-Wan Kenobi if possible.

We know what ends up happening to the Rodian in A New Hope with a certain someone shooting him, and it would definitely make sense if he was floating around Tatooine, where he grew up, during this time period doing bounty hunter jobs for Jabba the Hutt.

Hondo Ohnaka

The potential of an appearance from one of the most popular animated characters in the Star Wars universe definitely has fans excited. The pirate earned a lovable reputation in series such as Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Rebels, and fans would love to see him make the jump to live-action.

Hondo knows Obi-Wan and could certainly be in the vicinity of Tatooine at the time. He may come across the Jedi and offer to lend a hand, but it’s more likely he’d also look for a profit and think about handing Obi-Wan over to the Empire to make some quick credits.
