These are the several different incarnations of Princess Zelda and the different Chinese zodiacs that best fit the characters.

12 Rat – Spirit Tracks Zelda

Those that are born under the Rat zodiac sign are known for their observation abilities. The Rat zodiac has a bright and colorful personality which allows them to interact with what’s around them well enough. However, their ambitiousness and stubbornness could be their downfall. Princess Zelda from Spirit Tracks has several of the elements that every Zelda incarnation shares. Stretching from their royalty status to their wisdom. This incarnation of the character is known for her spunky personality and can be scared or reckless at times. However, through character development, she embodies the best of the Rat zodiac.

11 Ox – NES Zelda

Oxen are known for their loyalty, honesty, and strong character. They try to be logical while also being a bit overcautious at times. However, stubbornness from the Ox could potentially cause conflicts but they do like stability in their homes.

Although the original Zelda didn’t have that much screentime due to the age of the game, she was determined to break the triforce if it meant the safety of Hyrule. It was also through her that she made the logical choice of sending Impa to find Link in order to stop Ganon.

10 Tiger – Tetra

Tigers are confident people and have a lot of courage when it comes to the ideas they present. Not only that, but they also have a lot of passion and love to help others. However, they can also be fairly emotional which can lead them to be overconfident with their choices. Tetra is the alter-ego of the Princess from Wind Waker. Like the Tiger, Tetra is an overconfident character with a tomboyish nature to her. She also cares deeply for her friends.

9 Rabbit – Ocarina Of Time Zelda

The gentle Rabbit is known for its optimistic nature, paired well with being alert in certain situations. Although they strongly enjoy freedom, they don’t mind going on their own if they set a goal for themselves. However, their alertness also causes them to not trust others. Zelda in this title was strong thanks to her time as Shiek and helping Link on his journey. Her mistrust of Ganondorf arguably creates a ripple that eventually splits the timeline.

8 Dragon – Four Swords Adventures Zelda

The fiery Dragons are known for their determination and charisma. The Dragon zodiac can lead people and raise their spirits which is a strong talent of theirs. Although this version of Zelda is similar to her previous lives, she does have some differences that make her similar to the Dragon zodiac. This includes using her leadership to investigate the shrine with Link and carrying herself by helping him during their fight against Ganon.

7 Snake – Twilight Princess Zelda

People that are within the Snake zodiac are known for their mysterious character. Being fairly calm in most situations, Snake zodiacs plan methodically with lots of care. Whenever they are in a deeper situation, they ensure that it’s taken care of with responsibility in mind. This version of the character is one of the most mature, as shown when she willingly surrenders to Zant’s army for the sake of her people.

6 Horse – Minish Cap Zelda

People who are born under the Horse zodiac are energetic and love to be around both people and life. Although the liveliness the Horse brings to others can also be a weakness, as it means they aren’t good at hiding how they feel about a given situation.

Princess Zelda, who appears in the fairly underrated Minish Cap, is a close-friend of Link. She often likes to get away from the castle in order to enjoy the world around her. This was most notable when she went with Link to go to the Picori Festival. This along with her deep care for the people of her kingdom, as shown by her wish, make this incarnation suitable for the Horse zodiac.

5 Sheep – Breath Of The Wild Zelda

Sheep are known for their gentle and kind nature. Arguably more so than the former. They care immensely for their friends and may lose their temper at times However, the zodiac’s biggest weakness is their negativity due to being naturally pessimistic. This version of Zelda is arguably considered one of the most complex. While she deeply cares about her friends, her insecurity of not awakening her abilities right away gives her anxiety. However, through a desire, she is able to achieve her full potential when it matters.

4 Monkey – Hyrule Warriors Zelda

The Chinese zodiac for the Monkey is known for its creative and brilliant minds. This is paired well with their strong fortitude in their physical capabilities. They enjoy taking the initiative and if possible, would gladly take any challenge that awaits them. However, this can also lead to impatience at times. The Zelda seen in Hyrule Warriors is non-canon, however, her ability not only as a leader but as a warrior allowed her to take on threats other incarnations couldn’t.

3 Rooster – A Link Between Worlds Zelda

Those under the Rooster Zodiac are people who are honest. Along with strong communication and independence. That being said, despite being quick-thinkers who know what they want, Roosters have the weakness of being impatient. This would also lead the Rooster to be eccentric and a bit selfish at times. Although she is wise like her previous incarnations, her angry accusations and pleas to Yuga went ignored as she was turned into a painting.

2 Dog – A Link To The Past Zelda

Dog zodiacs are known for their loyalty and their belief in the friends they make along the way. Being brave enough to confront whatever problems face them or their loved ones. However, this loyalty could also be a double-edged sword for the Dog zodiac as it results in them being too emotional and stubborn. This version of Zelda has a deep connection to Link and uses telepathy in order to get the hero to start his journey. Not only that, but her close connection with the other maidens allowed them to break the seal in Ganon’s lair. Allowing Link to deliver the final fight.

1 Pig – Skyward Sword Zelda

The last animal within the Chinese zodiacs, those under this sign are diligent. Their kind nature allows them to be friends with anyone they meet. Chronologically, this Zelda is the first incarnation in all timelines and she is known for her kindness throughout the game. Her optimistic nature befits her due to her role as Hylia’s reincarnation. With her compassion showing itself by sealing herself to make sure Demise’s seal holds.
