Video game adaptations are all the rage at the moment. Franchises like Sonic and Fallout both have April TV releases this month, while last year’s The Last of Us earned some Emmy wins. With Fallout’s first season earning high praise, many wondered if a second season would follow.

Amazon has confirmed that the War Continues with a Season 2.

Fallout Season 2 Confirmed by Amazon and California

In a statement released from Variety, Amazon stated the following:

“Jonah, Lisa, Geneva, and Graham have captivated the world with this ground-breaking, wild ride of a show,” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios. “The bar was high for lovers of this iconic video game and so far we seem to have exceeded their expectations, while bringing in millions of new fans to the franchise. The cast led by Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins, and Kyle MacLachlan have knocked it out of the park! We’d like to thank Jonah and Lisa and our friends at Bethesda for bringing the show to us as well as Geneva and Graham for coming aboard as showrunners. We are thrilled to announce season two after only one week out and take viewers even farther into the surreal world of ‘Fallout.’”

This hasn’t surprised many people, thanks to California. The state awarded Amazon tax credits to film the show’s second season there. Credits also went to two Ryan Murphy projects and an NCIS prequel Series.

To coincide with the show, multiple video games in the series got major updates. 2015’s Fallout 4 dropped its long-awaited next-gen upgrade, 2018’s Fallout 76 currently has a free trial for new players. Even the mobile Fallout Shelter got show related updates.

For those new to the world of Fallout, Variety also provided a description on the TV series:

Based on the video game franchise of the same name, the series is set two hundred years after the apocalypse. The official description states it follows “the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters that are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind—and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird, and highly violent universe waiting for them.”

Overall Thoughts

I recently finished the entire season and fell in love with the show. Even as someone who isn’t the most experienced with Fallout as a game series, the world always had my interest.

The show confirmed that with amazing world building, a well-realized cast of characters and downright amazing presentation across the board. Expect a proper review on the series in the future on Lords of Gaming from yours truly.
