PAX East 2024 is finally here. The Lords from the Iron Lords Podcast and LOGNET are live once again on the show floor. One of the many games being previewed on the show floor this year is Capes from Spitfire Interactive.

Capes – PAX East 2024

Announced in early 2023, Spitfire Interactive set out to create an XCOM-inspired turn-based strategy game using superheroes as your units. The narrative for Capes can be described as the following:

Twenty years ago, the supervillains won.

Since then, they’ve created a dystopian city where developing super powers is a crime. Nobody has managed to slow them down, until now.

Capes is a turn based superhero strategy game where you build a team of heroes and fight to take back the city.

As mentioned by the developers in our exclusive Interview with them, they cited iconic comic books as inspiration. The legendary X-Men run called ‘Days of Future Past’ was name-dropped in our interview. In addition, you can see from character designs and powers the heroes in the demo pulled off that X-Men inspired more than just the narrative.

Promising full-voice acting for the main campaign, the narrative for Capes will ensure comic-book fans keep turning the page. Or turn, in this case. The title’s turn-based nature is very much using elements from XCOM, having a in-depth interface that explains your actions well.
