PAX East 2024 has come and gone, but there were many games on the show floor Lords of Gaming was able to play, such as Blackout Protocol from Ocean Drive Studio. We previously interviewed them last year at PAX East but we were able to get another taste of this game and interview Minky Kang, the Community Manager. Here is our exclusive interview and updated gameplay impressions!

Blackout Protocol Exclusive Developer Interview from PAX East 2024

One of the new features since our last interview of Blackout Protocol in 2023 was the addition of the solo mode. Originally you would have to be paired with up to two others to tackle the game. But now you are able to play this new rogue-lite experience alone to your liking. The plays exceptionally well and its overall presentation is very dark and immersive. The weapons are very pinpoint accurate, and the dodge is very fluid. The enemies can get overwhelming in numbers and become very tough to take down. The environment I played in was incredibly detailed and meshed well with the main character.

I chose the photon cannon and found the sniper in my short time playing Blackout Protocol. The game also boasts upgrades you can acquire that range from better healing, to faster reloads.
