Microsoft Potentially Working with Toys for Bob – Rumor

When developer Toys for Bob split ways with Microsoft recently, many were curious about their future. Will they return to the Spyro or Crash franchises? Partner with Nintendo or PlayStation for a project? Or stick it out fully on their own?

Thanks to reporting from Windows Central, we potentially have our answer.

Firm Hand Shake – Toys for Bob Teaming Up with Xbox

As reported by Jez Corden via Windows Central, Toys for Bob has come to an agreement with Xbox for a partnership.

Matt Booty, now leading Xbox’s game content division, reportedly said that an agreement has now been reached between Xbox and Toys for Bob for their first game as an independent studio. However, he stopped short of describing exactly what it will be, although he did say something along the lines of, and I’m paraphrasing, “it will be similar to games Toys for Bob has made in the past.”

This partnership ignites a flame, or the scent of a wumpa fruit, for seasoned platformer fans. The studio is infamous for its quality work on Crash 4: It’s About Time. Their remastering efforts with Reignited Trilogy greatly impressed. Xbox teaming up with this studio for a 3D Platformer is a brilliant move… but what could it be?

Overall Thoughts

The instant thought coming to my mind would be Spyro 4. Considering the developer directly told fans to ‘keep your horns on’, that directly implies more work on the Spyro series is firmly in the cards. But another thought could be the long-requested Banjo-Kazooie remake or sequel. Many have been requesting a return for this franchise, more so after the iconic duo’s inclusion in Smash Brothers.

While many developers could make a great Banjo, Toys for Bob’s work on large worlds as shown with their Spyro remakes, inspire confidence. One franchise I do not see them touching for a long while would be Crash Bandicoot. Crash 4: It’s About Time was only recently released and Crash Team Rumble was released a mere year ago.

But what do you all think? Let us know in the comments below!
