Stealth isn’t an Option – ‘Alpha Protocol’ Back on GoG Storefront

When video games become delisted, it makes accessing them difficult. One such release was the PS3/Xbox 360 Obsidian RPG Alpha Protocol. It melded the studio’s western RPG skills with a stealth/spy theme. The title released to mixed reception, but still is a part of Obsidian’s legacy. The game was delisted back in 2019, as there were issues regarding licensing rights with the game’s score. However, GoG recently fixed that.

GOG to Alpha Protocol’s Rescue

In a partnership with SEGA and Obsidian, GOG managed to get the game up on their DRM-free store front. Here is the press release via official Twitter/X account.

Featuring the full slate of features one would expect from modern PC releases, the game is now available today for $19.99 on the Gog Storefront.

Thoughts

This specific game is a blind spot for me. I never played it before, despite owning it on my Xbox 360. That said, the spy theme mixed with RPG elements strongly appeals to me. One could hope that this release finding a home on PC markets again will encourage a current-generation console release.

It is worth noting that during Xbox’s second wave of BC tittles, SEGA published cult favorites like Binary Domain and the Otogi series got added while this did not. With GOG getting the rights to release Alpha Protocol on PC, maybe this implies a console re-release is on the table. Microsoft owning Obsidian wouldn’t be a problem, considering their recent multiplatform initiative this year.

Will any of you pick up this PS3/360 gem? If so, let us know in the comments below!
