Tiktok’s troubles not ending, Italy’s government has to agree

Tiktok’s Europe-based child safety Chief Alexandra Evans has also confirmed that the app will further strengthen its safety measures. Now before users can use TicketTalk, they will be asked their date of birth…

Detailed
The Chinese app Ticketock has managed to avoid the sword of the ban hanging on its own by compromising with the Italian government. But there is still a possibility of heavy fines in Russia. In countries like America and India, this app has already faced many restrictions. But while the case in these two countries was related to geopolitical conditions, the social side effects of this app in Italy led administrators to clamp down on it.

Now Tittock has entered into an agreement with the government’s data protection regulators. Under this, it will be his responsibility to ensure that children of young age do not use it. Italian regulators clamped down on the app after the death of a ten-year-old girl in Palermo city.

The girl died due to participation in a dangerous social media match being run on Ticketock. When this news became very popular in the country, the Italian authorities started investigating the case. It was revealed that the girl had participated in the ongoing breath-stopping competition at Ticketcock. During this time he died due to lack of oxygen in the body.

This incident happened last December. But after his news was published and investigated in the media, action started against Tittock in January. In the legal notice given to this company, it was accused that it has not taken any measures to protect the minor children. The country’s data protection regulator has now made similar allegations on Facebook and Instagram.

In the meantime, the regulatory body had blocked those who could not prove that they were under 13 years of age. The responsibility of ensuring this has now been placed on TickTalk, which he has accepted. Italy’s Data Protection Regulator said in a statement on Wednesday – Ticketock will block all users in Italy from 9 February next. After that they will be told that if they want to use this app, then tell their date of birth. If the user is under 13 years of age, then his account will be deleted.

Tiktoks Europe-based child Safety Chief Alexandra Evans has also confirmed that the app will further strengthen its safety measures. Now before they can use TicketTalk, they will be asked their date of birth. Tiktok is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland under European Union rules. Ireland is therefore responsible for implementing data protection regulations. But Italy, under its special legislation of 2018, instructed TicTalk to step down directly.

Meanwhile, in Russia, Tiktok is surrounded by videos of anti-President Vladimir Putin demonstrations being put on this app. The Russian government has announced a fine on seven social media networks for use by supporters of anti-Putin leader Alexey Navalny to publicize their demonstrations. These fines can be up to 52 thousand dollars. These apps also include TicTalk, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.
