Here are Your Villains on Zack Snyder’s Justice League!

The 2017 Justice League movie was a disaster in a lot of ways. But one of the biggest drawbacks was probably Steppenwolf, the principal antagonist, who was singled out as a weak villain. However, fans are probably not very surprised, considering everything about the theatrical cut of the movie was different from Zack Snyder’s original version of Justice League.

Although yes, Steppenwolf was supposed to be a general for the Apokolips, he was not supposed to single-handedly deal with the entire movie. Snyder had originally meant for there to be multiple other villains, with Steppenwolf being a more menacing character than he was made out to be. And given the resources that Warner Bros. is spending behind the Snyder Cut, fans might just be in for a grand surprise.

Characters cut from Justice League

However, Steppenwolf won’t be the only villain in Zack Snyder’s Justice League – there are more players meant to join him. Most of these villains were cut off from the theatrical version, but the Snyder Cut is supposed to grant them a more significant position. Many such characters were cut from the theatrical release, or their scenes significantly reduced, including a short scene which included Flash saving Iris West from a car accident. Ryan Choi/Atom briefly appeared in one scene working with Silas Stone. Cyborg’s mother Elinore Stone appeared in some flashback sequences. Additionally, Aquaman’s mentor Nuidis Vulko appeared in two scenes.

Darkseid appeared in atleast 3 scenes. Along with him, master torturer Desaad also played a minor role. Calvin Swanwick was supposed to appear briefly, revealing that he was the shapeshifting alien Martian Manhunter. In addition to this, while the theatrical cut had the Mother Boxes as a plot device, Zack Snyder’s Justice League included the detail that they contained Steppenwolf’s actual mother, Heggra.

Although characters such as Silas Stone, Lex Luthor, Lois Lane, Mera, Ares, Zeus and Antiope appeared in the theatrical cut, many of their scenes were cut or reduced as well.

Now, coming to the villains that will be present in the Snyder Cut – Steppenwolf will still be a key player, along with others:

Lex Luthor

Lex Luthor had originally only appeared briefly in a post-credit scene in Justice League, but there’s reason to believe that Luthor played the role of a gateway to the invasion from Apokolips in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Lex’s journals are supposed to play a crucial role as well. Batman will probably use it to, firstly, form the Justice League, and then prepare for the war.

Deathstroke

Deathstroke, or Slade Wilson, appeared briefly in the end credits of Justice League. Here, Luthor, after escaping from Arkham, recruits Wilson to form their own league. However, this was slightly different in Snyder’s version. The scene was originally supposed to feature at the end of the movie, where Lex hires Wilson to kill Batman.

Darkseid

Darkseid didn’t have the best of runs in Justice League, with just a mention of him from Steppenwolf. However, he will be a major player in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, essentially bringing about the Apokolips invasion. The League will also apparently see Darkseid on the other side of the Boom Tube at the end.

Desaad

As mentioned previously, Desaad’s role was absolutely cut from Justice League. Not much is known about his role in the Snyder Cut, and thus it is expected that his role will be a minor one, compared to others.

Apart from this, there might also a possibility of Darkseid’s entire family, including Grail, Grayven, Kalibak and Orion, along with some Furies, members of Darseid’s Elite and a huge chunk of Parademons to be seen on the other side of the Boom Tube. But this hasn’t been confirmed, as of yet.

Whatever be the case, one thing is for certain, Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be something big.
