‘The Kissing Booth 2’ is All Set Make Its Way to Netflix This June

Written and directed by Vince Marello, The Kissing Booth, a teen-drama movie, is an adaption of the Beth Reekles novel of the same name. The movie made its way to Netflix in 2018. Two years after the first instalment, which became one of Netflix’s most-watched titles of the summer, Joey King (who plays Elle Evans) revealed that The Kissing Booth 2 will be released on July 24, 2020.

The same cast will return in this instalment of the franchise, like other recent teen dramas on Netflix. The Kissing Booth 2 will feature Joey King as Elle Evans, Jacob Elordi as Noah Flynn, and Joel Courtney as Lee Flynn. King’s revelation during an Instagram live also included surprise video calls from the team of The Kissing Booth 2, movie trivia, a fan Q&A, and deleted scenes from The Kissing Booth.

Recap: The Kissing Booth

The story revolves around Elle and Lee, who are best friends since childhood. The portrayal of their friendship is sweet and honestly everyone would wish for a friendship like that. They create rules to maintain their friendship. Mainly, they are forbidden from dating each other’s relatives, specifically Lee’s older brother Noah, who is a handsome man and girls chase him. Obviously, Elle too likes Noah but what always stopped her was the love and care she had for her friendship with Lee.

Later, Elle comes to know that Noah has been telling everyone not to pursue her romantically. This one thing stays in Elle’s head and is in a way a foreshadow of what the future holds. Elle and Lee create a Kissing Booth for a school fundraiser. During a party, Elle tells the girls that Noah will be part of the booth, despite Noah having already refused her request. At the kissing booth, everything goes well until Lee serves as the kisser instead of Noah. Angry that Elle lied about Noah’s participation, the popular girls (known as the OMG Girls, cliche) set up Elle to kiss an undesirable student. Series of events lead to Noah and Elle sharing a series of passionate kisses in front of the entire school.

Elle and Noah keep seeing each other in secret, almost getting caught every time but managing somehow. Until one fine day when Lee finds out and the whole chaos of friendship or love begins. The brothers fight, and Elle cries, asking Noah to leave her alone. The whole drama continues until finally Lee and Elle reconcile. Towards the end, Elle goes to prom with Lee and his girlfriend, Rachel. There, a replica of the kissing booth is brought out with Noah, who tells Elle he loves her. Seeing this, Elle cries and runs away saying she can’t hurt people she loves anymore, while she has been hurting herself throughout.

The Kissing Booth ends with Lee understanding Elle’s love for Noah and helps them get back together. Elle and Noah spend the weeks together before he leaves for college. Elle bids adieu to Noah and watching him leave, she is unsure if their relationship will last, but she knows a part of her heart will always belong to him. She rides his motorcycle back home into the sunset and the movie ends on a happy note.

The Kissing Booth 2: All we know

The Kissing Booth 2: Going the Distance by Beth Reekles is what this instalment is based on. It will explore the ways Elle and Noah’s newly-labelled relationship is tested when he heads off to college. The official synopsis of the book reads:

Elle Evans just had the most romantic summer of her life with her reformed bad-boy boyfriend Noah Flynn. But now Noah is off to Harvard, and Elle heads back to high school for her senior year. She’ll have to juggle a long-distance relationship, getting into her dream college with her best friend Lee, and the complications brought on by a close friendship with a handsome, charismatic new classmate named Marco. When Noah grows close to a seemingly-perfect college girl, Elle will have to decide how much she trusts him and to whom her heart truly belongs.”

The Kissing Booth 2 is an awaited sequel and the announcement has left the fans waiting, but not for long. The reuniting of the former couple Joey King and Jacob Elordi will definitely be a treat to watch. The Kissing Booth 2 will be available to stream on Netflix from 24 June 2020.
