CPU Performance

The Snapdragon 720G comes with a dual-cluster octa-core CPU. The primary two higher cores clock @2.3GHz and lower core position @1.8GHz. Speaking to Snapdragon 730G, it replicates the 720G with higher Cortex-A76 cores @2.2GHz and lower Cortex-A55 @1.8GHz. However, Snapdragon 730G has a slightly lower frequency for big cores, but these are Kryo 470 in comparison to Kryo 465 used on SD 720G. If you aren’t aware of, Kryo structure uses modified Cortex cores to adapt to its environment. That is why the company uses a different marketing name.

Furthermore, Snapdragon 765G has different tri-cluster octa-core CPU where one powerful core clocked @2.4GHz, one medium core @2.4GHz and four cores @1.8GHz. Lastly, MediaTek Helio G90T also utilises the octa-core CPU, but a slightly similar structure to SD 720G and 730G. It has two powerful Cortex-A76 cores @2.05GHz and six power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores @2.0GHz. Both Snapdragon 720G and 730G use 8nm processing node, whereas Snapdragon 765G is manufactured on flagship-level 7nm node. MediaTek Helio G90T is less power efficient in comparison to the other three with 12nm manufacturing architecture.

Overall, all these chipsets adopt mighty processing power, which should be more than enough for any mid-range smartphone. As expected, Snapdragon 765G significantly beats in the CPU department, whereas Snapdragon 720G and 730G can be considered in the second position. MediaTek Helio G90T, however, offers decent CPU specs but doesn’t stand against other three real power mobile platforms.

GPU Performance

As I have mentioned earlier, All four chipsets are designed for gaming lovers. That is why GPU is an essential criterion to judge their performance. The Snapdragon 765G adopts the latest Adreno 620 GPU, which according to the company is 20% more powerful than the Adreno 618 used on Snapdragon 730G and 720G. The company claims to make some vital performance optimisation with latest graphics processor to take the mid-range gaming to the next level. It has several gaming elite features to deliver a seamless gaming experience.

Besides, MediaTek Helio G90T SoC equips Mali-G76 3EEMC4 quad-core GPU to handle the graphics-intensive tasks. MediaTek also applies HyperEngine technology to improve the overall gaming experience. Based on benchmark scores, Mali-G76 GPU is comparable to Snapdragon 765G, while other two chipsets are not that powerful in terms of GPU. Snapdragon 765G is at first position in the GPU department. Whereas, Helio G90T stands at the second position, leaving Snapdragon 720G and 730G at last place. But gameplay shouldn’t be an issue with all these SoCs. As all the offered GPU are fair enough to handle any game.

Artificial Intelligence

Starting with Snapdragon 730G, it comes with Qualcomm Hexagon 688 DSP and 720G has new Hexagon 692 DSP. The Snapdragon 765G employs the Hexagon 696 DSP. However, MediaTek didn’t highlight the AI features; it has various AI techniques used to make it even smarter. Coming to the Qualcomm, both Snapdragon 720G and 765G come with 5th Gen Qualcomm AI engine. Which is an improved version of the 4th Gen AI engine found on Snapdragon 730G SoC. Overall, Snapdragon 720G and 765G arrive with the latest AI feature, which can easily outbreak the other two. Qualcomm is way ahead of MediaTek in the AI department.

Camera and Storage

All the three Qualcomm chipsets support up to whooping 192MP single camera or dual 22MP + 22MP combination on both front and rear side. It doesn’t mean that these chipsets only support the dual camera, but the maximum limit is 22MP for multiple camera phones. The Snapdragon 765G comes with upgraded Spectra 355 ISP, which should be better then Spectra 350 used on Snapdragon 720G and 730G. To recall, the Image Signal Processor (ISP) plays an important role to optimise the camera quality. Therefore, we can expect better images on Snapdragon 765G powered phones in comparison to the other two.

Lastly, MediaTek Helio G90T can hold up to 64MP single or dual 24MP + 16MP. So, it is clear that Heliov G90T has the privilege to adapt a higher megapixel camera. It further adds 3x ISP to improve the camera quality. Overall, Helio G90T stays one step ahead to Qualcomm chipsets in terms of offering sharper images with higher pixel counts. Regarding the memory, both Snapdragon 720G and 730G support up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM. On the other hands, Helio G90T with 10GB and Snapdragon 765G with 12GB RAM outperform. All these chipsets offer UFS 2.1 flash storage or standard eMMC 5.1.

Connectivity

It is the criteria where Snapdragon 765G is way ahead then all the other processors. It offers integrated 5G modem making it one of the most affordable 5G SoCs. With the Integrated Snapdragon X52 5G Modem, it is well capable of delivering up to 3.7Gbps download and 1.5Gbps upload speed. It uses dual-mode 5G connectivity, which can switch between 2G to 5G anytime. The Snapdragon 720G and 730G both arrive with integrated Snapdragon X15 LTE modem. The chipsets deliver up to 800Mpbs download and 150Mbps upload speed.

MediaTek Helio G90T also adopts LTE modem. It can offer up to 600Mpbs download and 150Mps upload speed. Other essential features such as Bluetooth 5.0, true wireless audio, USB 3.1 support, 802.11a/b/g, and Dual 4G VoLTE are available on all the mentioned chips. Overall, Snapdragon 765G is an unquestionable winner in the connectivity department. Eventually, Qualcomm is one step ahead to MediaTek in terms of offering faster internet speeds.

Antutu-Geekbench Benchmark Scores
