You were about to start your stream. You open up your Twitch to view it and suddenly you get a black page saying “2000: Network Error”.

If you were also just watching a stream and not streaming it you can still experience this issue as it did for me.

It’s a giant ball of catastrophic mess.

Anyways, after a few trial and error and scouring the internet for any solution I can find to fix this, these are some of the solutions that happen to have fixed the error personally. 🙂

And I hope it helps you too.

In this guide, I’ll help you fix the Twitch network error 2000 that you’ve been getting and get it up and running as quickly as possible.

How to Fix Twitch Error 2000: 9 Ways

1. Refreshing your Twitch Stream.

The very first thing you should try is to simply refresh the Twitch stream you were watching.

You may or may not have already tried this but certainly, if you have not, then giving a quick refresh should help get identify if the error is just an off-chance bug.

If you have however refreshed your Twitch stream a couple of times but it still proves useless, then go through the steps below.

2. Check your Internet Connection.

The Network: 2000 error is due to a network issue and it is most likely will be from your Internet side of things.

Check if you’re able to browse the Internet without any issues. If there is no problem in browsing the Internet but the problem persists with Twitch, then simply restarting your Wi-Fi router (your Wi-Fi box) and then reconnect back to your Wi-Fi.

You can also try to use your mobile hotspot and try to connect and check if the problem is really with your Wi-Fi or if it is the same for all networks.

3. Restarting your PC.

Again you may have already done this, but if you have not, then make sure to give your PC a restart.

Also, while you’re at it, check if your PC is downloading a Windows Update in the background or anything for that matter (torrents, file downloads, application updates, etc)

If something is downloading in the background it may affect how your Twitch stream performs because the network is busy.

Try pausing the download(s) or wait till it completes before retrying any of the other steps.

4. Turn Off Your VPN or Proxy.

This happened to fix the issue for most of our readers.

Basically when you have your VPN enabled it may cause problems with the network and subsequently brings up all kinds of weird errors like the one we’re getting now.

So open up your VPN — ExpressVPN, NordVPN, etc. and simply jump into the VPN’s dashboard and turn it off temporarily.

Once you’ve done that, close your search browser. Then try once again to open up your browser, search for the Twitch stream you were watching and then check if it works this time without your VPN enabled.

5. Disable Enhanced Anti-Tracking for Ghostery.

There is an entire Reddit thread on this solution and well for many Redditors doing this trick has managed to fix Twitch Error 2000.

If you have the Ghostery installed on your search browser, then open up Ghostery and then click on the shield icon. From there, simply just turn it off and it disabled the Enhanced Anti-Tracking mode that most likely may have affected your Twitch streams.

Try refreshing your Twitch stream once again and see if it works. 🙂

6. Turn Off AdBlocker.

This is what worked for me.

If you don’t have Ghostery installed, you may have other forms of ad-blockers that may affect the Twitch streams too.

Simply open up your ad-blocker (uBlock Origin, AdGuard, AdBlock/AdBlock Plus, etc.) and then simply disable it.

Note

You should only have one ad-blocker installed and enabled at a time. Installing multiple ad-blockers is pointless and just consumes a lot of your PC’s memory as well as cause tons of unwanted issues.

This brings up the next method.

7. Disable any Browser Extensions.

Having too many browser extensions installed is like hoarding up your wardrobe with tons of clothes (unless if you’re like me who just wears the same set of clothes every day).

You’re not going to be using all those clothes and some of them are just pointlessly too small or hellish ugly.

So clean up your set of browser extensions, you don’t need all of it.

You can do this by right-clicking on the extensions and then hit the Remove from Chrome button or Remove on other search browsers.

Even disabling (not removing completely) the ones that you don’t use helps your search browser perform better and consecutively helps prevent a lot of errors like the Twitch Network 2000 error from occurring.

8. Jump Ship to Firefox to Check.

Another quick way to check if your search browser is the culprit of the error is to hop onto Firefox (if you have it installed) or any other search browser like Edge, Opera and then check if the Twitch stream works there.

This method has also worked for a few Redditors and helps to identify if the problem is with your browser.

9. Disabling your Antivirus Temporarily.

Disabling your antivirus temporarily is also one other method that helps to resolve the Twitch network 2000 error.

Do note that I’m not advocating that you do not use any antivirus entirely. Antivirus is important. However, we just want to check and identify whether is our antivirus the cause of our problem.

Simply open up your antivirus program and then from its dashboard simply hit the button to turn it off. This applies to most antivirus programs like BitDefender, Kaspersky, Norton, etc.

Once you’ve temporarily disabled your antivirus, try refreshing your Twitch stream to see if it is working again.

9. If All Else Fails, Try the Twitch Desktop App.

This is not a solution and you have all right to get mad at me for this haha.

But if you need to watch this Twitch stream urgently, then you can proceed to install the official Twitch desktop application to start watching Twitch streams directly without having to go through your browser.

This is a much more stable experience than the browser version which can cause unpredictable errors at times.

Once you’re done installing your Twitch Desktop app, simply open up the Twitch stream you wanted to watch and start watching! 🙂
