WoW: Dragonflight: Blood, poison and lots of CDs

After we meet the new on August 8th, 2022 Shadow Dance Outlaws from WoW: Dragonflight Let’s take a look at the new Assassination Rogue talent tree. It’s a bit slimmer than other specializations, but still offers exciting synergies and difficult decisions that revolve around the topic of “blood and poisons”.

How much burst can it be?

The Assassin’s gameplay has for many years revolved around poisons and bleeds that nibble at the life points of your victims over a period of time. This will also be the case in WoW: Dragonflight. If you still want to unleash enormous burst Damage in a short time with your dagger swinger, you can achieve this through the selected talents. In fact, you have a whole battery of DpS cooldowns at your disposal that you can activate to deal significantly more damage over a period of time.

Wow: Fateful Castle Nathria – Balancing makes many classes cry

In the first Fateful Raid in WoW history, most classes barely stood a chance against the DpS of the two usual frontrunners.

You can unlock the following DpS cooldowns with just one Backstab build:

  • shadow dance (Standard Tree): Allows you to use stealth abilities for 9 seconds, grants all stealth combat bonuses, and increases damage by 10 percent (1 minute cooldown).
  • cold-bloodedness (Standard Tree): Increases the critical strike chance of your next damaging abilities by 100 percent (45 second cooldown).
  • death mark (Assassination Tree): Carves a death mark on an enemy, dealing bleed damage over 15 seconds. While the mark persists, Garrote and Bleed and your applied Deadly Poisons are duplicated on that target (2 minute cooldown).
  • bleed out (Backstab Tree): Twist your blades in the target’s wounds, causing your bleed effects on them to bleed out 100% faster (45 second cooldown).
  • sepsis (Assassination Tree): Infects the target’s blood, inflicting Nature damage over 10 seconds. If the target survives the full duration of the effect, they take additional damage and gain a stealth ability cast for 5 seconds. If Sepsis does not last for the full duration of the effect, the cooldown is reduced by 30 seconds (90 second cooldown).
  • Shiv Blade plus Improved Shiv Blade (Assassination Tree): Attacks with the offhand, dealing Physical damage. Banishes states of anger. Delivers a concentrated version of your nonlethal poison. Increases your Nature damage against the target by 20 percent for 9 seconds (25 second cooldown).
  • regicide (Assassination Tree): Deals instantaneous Nature damage and additional Nature damage over 14 seconds. Each time you apply deadly poison to a target afflicted by Regicide, Regicide’s damage is increased by 15 percent (1 minute cooldown).

So many skills naturally want to be used optimally and at the right time. If you succeed, the burst phases will be enormous.

Poisons, we need more poisons!

If you prefer a not so full skill bar, you can concentrate fully on getting the maximum out of your own poisons in Dragonflight and thus cause as much damage as possible over the entire fight. The core talent is quite clear

  • Dragon Tempered Blades (Assassination Tree): You can infuse your weapons with an additional deadly and non-lethal poison.

The talent is so exciting because you also get access to new poisons through the Dragonflight talent trees:

  • Empowering Poison (Assassination Tree): Coats your weapons in a deadly poison that lasts 1 hour. Each attack has a 30% chance to poison the enemy, dealing Nature damage and applying amplification for 12 seconds. Envenom can consume 15 stacks of the effect to deal 30 percent more damage. A maximum of 20 stacks of amplification is possible.
  • Atrophic Poison (Assassination Tree): Coats your weapons in a nonlethal poison that lasts 1 hour. Each attack has a 10% chance of poisoning the opponent, reducing their damage by 3% for 10 seconds.

Other core talents for this build include:

  • Virulent Poisons (Standard tree): Increases the damage of your weapon poisons by up to 30 percent.
  • Master of Poisons (Standard tree): Increases the non-damaging effects of your weapon poisons by 20 percent.
  • Improved Poisons (Assassination Tree): Increases the chance of poisoning your target by 20 percent.
  • Toxic high (Assassination Tree): Ambush and Mutilate restores eight energy points when used on a poisoned target.
  • lethal can (Assassination Tree): Your Weapon Poisons, Bleeds, and Nature DoTs each deal 2% more damage for each Weapon Poison, Nature DoT, and Bleed ticking on the target.
  • Bribing scoundrel (Assassination Tree): Envenom also increases the critical hit chance of your poisons by 15 percent and their critical hits generate 15 energy.

Assassins have never been allowed to go into battle with such powerful poisons.

Bleeding on 8+ targets? This works out!

Assassination has never been the best spec when it comes to dealing the highest damage possible on large groups of enemies. With Dragonflight, however, the bleed and poison experts have some new tools in their hands that allow them to efficiently distribute their damaging effects across different opponents.

The most important thing here is very clear Indiscriminate Carnage: Spread your next Garrote and Bleed among up to eight enemies within 10 yards. 90 second cooldown. In combination with blood smell (Bleeding increases your Agility by 10. You can gain this bonus for each enemy afflicted by your Bleeding.) the new Carnage spell works like a fat injection of mobility.

WoW Dragonflight: Jagged Bone Spikes and Crimson Tempest are still a few level ups away, but this is what the base of an AoE build for Assassins could look like.

In addition, right at the start of the fight you have the opportunity again to apply several strong strangle DoTs to your targets through a stealthy opening, you can use talents to increase the damage, the critical hit chance and the radius of dagger fans, and with Crimson Storm you can Activate already known AoE finisher. If you then pack the Jagged Bone Spikes from Shadowlands, numerous harmful effects will quickly tick off a variety of opponents.

And if you are worried about your energy when using dagger fans regularly, you will not only find umpteen talents in both trees that boost your energy regeneration or your combo point build-up, you can also access the increased DpS phase during if necessary Forego Shadow Dance and instead pack Thistle Tea, which grants you 100 energy per button press, with three stacks and a 60 second cooldown.

How do you like the assassin tree from WoW (buy now ): Dragonflight so far? Are there already one or two builds that you really want to try? Have you perhaps even discovered talent builds that we do not mention in this article? By the way, we have already introduced you to all the talents and abilities of the Dragonflight villain in this overview.
