As part of Evercade’s second anniversary, manufacturer Blaze Entertainment today announced its latest retro handheld, the Evercade Exp. The EXP handheld is based on the experiences and feedback of the Evercade community and will then replace the Evercade released in June 2020 (to the user article). The previous games collections will be compatible with the Evercade EXP and will continue to be usable.

In addition to a more powerful processor, the biggest changes to the EXP concern the new screen type: The real glass IPS panel will now support a resolution of 800*480 pixels and offer better viewing angle stability. Another highlight is probably the “Tate mode”, with which you can also play the supported titles in “portrait mode”, similar to the vertically usable screen of the Wonderswan handheld from Bandai.

According to Blaze’s current plans, the Evercade EXP should be released at the end of this year, pre-orders can be made from autumn 2022 at a price of 149.99 euros. In addition to the normal variant (contains the Irem Collection), there will again be a special limited edition of the Evercade EXP this time, which, in addition to a black version of the handheld, also contains a second collection and additional bonus items.

The limited edition, limited to 5000 pieces, can also be pre-ordered from tomorrow at a price of 179.99 GBP, but only via the store of funstock.
