Warren Spector and Otherside have not worked on System Shock 3 in three years

As early as 2020, we reported that System Shock 3 suffered major problems when publisher Starbreeze was forced to sell the publishing rights, which later led to many leaving or being fired from developer Otherside. Chinese Tencent, however, stepped in as and would drive the series forward.

After that, Otherside assured that they were still involved in the project, but now Warren Spector himself has revealed that they have not worked on the game since 2019. To Gamesbeat says he that it is now up to Tencent to take the brand forward and that he can not clarify the matter further.

So there is no confirmation that there will be nothing System Shock 3, but it seems undeniable that what Spector and Otherside have been working on is not going to see the light of day. On the other hand, remakes are off System Shock and System Shock 2 on the way, so maybe Tencent is waiting to see if there is still interest in the old series.

Spector and Otherside are working on a completely new “immersive sim” themselves, but the details are scarce and at present we have to make do with a concept image and promises of great choices.
